Anyone seen any reasonably priced christmas party dresses?

Petite sizes would be preferred.
I've had a look around the usual suspects (Debenhams, Next etc) and not seen any I fancied (mind you, I do not even like dresses, but needs must!)
Cheers!

Matalan had a load in last week, and very nice they were too.

likessleep · 03/11/2008 13:22

i'm only 5ft1, size 10. so petite dresses fit better on me.
but i am not working at moment, so needs to be reasonably priced.
any ideas or thoughts gratefully received.
i'm the type who loves shopping for jeans and tops, hates shopping for smart wear.

the one I got was around knee length, black, with a blue sash under the bust and the cut of the dress was lovely and feminine. Here's the best bit though - it was only £18.

likessleep · 03/11/2008 13:26

that sounds lovely flier. and £18 is fab! wow.

you'd be better off with this

or this

(The one i bought isn't online)

likessleep · 03/11/2008 13:35

yeah i know (she says reluctantly, i guess just a tomboy at heart!). i like the 2nd one, although pink is way too girly for me.

I'm the same, I always tend to stick to black. How do you feel about purple? (its one of my fave colours and if I could find a nice purple dress I'd be really happy).

BUT - you should try a coloured dress on for a change - or a style you would normally shy away from. I did this a few months back, I tried on a strapless dress (something I'd never ever worn before) - and you knwo what? it was lovely and I bouht it.

Go and try that pink dress on!

JackieNo · 03/11/2008 13:45

Maybe this or this? But both quite ££.

likessleep · 03/11/2008 13:49

I wouldn't mind purple or green or brown or blue.
i think pink might be going a bit too far for me!but you're right, i will try on coloured dresses and different styles. i just get so peeved off, when they all are too long on me, cos i am 'vertically challenged'!

Wallis have some bargains atm - scroll down.
Or for something a bit more unusual, any of these take your fancy?

www.tansen.co.uk/index.php?skin=silverline&table=pages&show=item&collectioncode=ta8u&itemcode =pu263

that one is nice.
i quite like the ones at the bottom of the second link you sent.
i am so fussy.
ps how do you link to a webpage?

OP posts:
Flier · 03/11/2008 14:33

don't think your link worked.

to link to a webpage you just type 2 square brackets like this [[ then copy in your webpage link then close with another 2 square brackets.
if you want to add some text then put a space then whatever you want then your 2 square brackets.

a bit like this [[www.yahoo.co.uk yahoo (then your 2 square brackets)

OllieWollieWoo · 03/11/2008 15:52

Not sure what the Next link above was but I quite like this strapless one from there- may be a bit too fussy with the tiered skirt tho! Sure it would lovely on a size 10 petite tho!
