what I'd like:
not too long as will be driving in it
no belts - will accentuate tubbiness
don't mind colour but last coat was bright red so fancy a change
want it to go with work clothes and jeans

Any ideas as am shopping tomorrow for DS and for me!

do you want a smart wool coat

or something more casual

do you like military? (coats not men)

chocbutton · 31/10/2008 19:58

yes wool I think - more likely to wear for work than casual
I do like military (both types!) but not sure they suit me, I think plainer things look better as not that svelte unfortunately

I have the Asda £15 black wool coat and it is fabby. Single breasted, lined, no belt, not overly long (3/4?).

chocbutton · 31/10/2008 20:24

like the sound of that Sammyk, what a bargain - I will search online now

Any other ideas?? budget prob about £80 max but like idea of £15!

Aah yes the little black coat. Love it.

I ordered mine online as sold out locally. Came in nice box on hanger.

I am really pleased with mine, hate most of the winter coats in the shops at the moment. Buy other stuff with your £80 budget.

RainbowChaser · 31/10/2008 20:42

Ive got the LBC too and love it but just a bit embarrassed because whenever im wearing it I see loads of others wearing it too. I am thinking about changing the buttons to make it slightly different.

AlbertaWildRose · 31/10/2008 20:48

Ooh, can I hijack quickly? I'm 28 weeks pg and my current winter coat is getting too small, but I hate the idea of spending £60 on a maternity coat. Do you think the LBC would work for a bump, if I bought a big size?

SammyK · 31/10/2008 20:59

I see others wearing it too rainbowchaser, I don't care though, we usually exchange knowing smiles.

Like the idea of changing the buttons on it, I may do that with it next winter.

SammyK · 31/10/2008 20:59

Alberta I don't see why not!

widgypog · 01/11/2008 08:49

does the asda coat come up big or small would anyone say pls? I think I am gonna get one..also is it the wool that picks up fluff or the smooth wool that doesn't ..difficult to see on the pic

Tinkjon · 01/11/2008 21:44

The size seems exactly right for me. I don't find it very warm, but then that's the case for most coats with me... not sure what you mean about wool but mine hasn't picked up fluff yet.

widgypog · 03/11/2008 16:47

I think it must be the smooth wool as you would know if it was the material that picks up fluff ..which is great because they always look dirty covered in fluff.. I think I may go for it ..although I am still unsure to get a 10 or an 8 as coats some up big to compensate for layers underneath I think

GuysballsintheSky · 03/11/2008 16:56

I've had such a revelation for coats this year. I used to spend a fortune then outgrow them get sick of them so replace every year. But the supermarkets are great at the mo. Bought a lovely plummy purple coat in Tesco last year and a few weeks ago got a short grey belted (warm) jacket with a hood for £20, nice one, not casual.

Also got this from Asda which is so scrumptiously warm, I'm actually waiting for it to get really cold. And I'm like Tinkjon, I don't often find coats very warm.

katiek123 · 03/11/2008 19:51
