You're wasting your money with Dept. Store brands, sez she who used to develop makeup for a living...

Tesco Barbra Daly range is good.

Have you tried getting it off ebay Rickman? I bought some EL verite cream from there and it was fine. Or there are some other sites that do it cheap, one or two makeup threads recently mention them.
I love Estee Lauder stuff, and do think some things - lipsticks, eyeshadow etc are better - but I also used to work for various designer brands (Arden, PBI etc) and the markup is heinous.
I use l'oreal or neutrogena atm.

try a foundation from No7

I would second the barbara daly range. She repeatedly gets good write-ups on those products and they are very reasonably priced

Hope you are well and babe is doing well

Also there are outlet make up stores ( I know of one in Portsmouth) but have seen some in London too. These sell all the make up/skin care under the Estee umberella including Origins, Bobbi Brown, Clinique. The make up may not be the latest but they may well have some favourites. I bought some EL lippies, and some MAC eyeshadow.

Estee Lauder have recently brought out their Estee Edit range, which is cheaper, and also 30% off on their website today. I've bought a bronzer for £15 with free delivery.
