My sister wants to buy me some for my b-day but wants me to choose! Which ones are nice? Think I like a more citrusy smell - but woried that the Grapefruit one will be like the March Jacobs one - which I really didnt like!

Nutmeg and Ginger - lovely and warm and subtle
Black vetyvr cafe - gorgeous and I do like Lime, basil and mandarin but quite a summery one.

VintageGardenia · 28/10/2008 14:29

Well as you can tell from my waft I like VintageGardenia. There is a mint one which is a bit too minty, but I'd second the lime, basil and mandarin, it's yum and you can layer it with lovely lime blossom body cream. I have Grapefruit in shower gel & it is very grapefruity indeed.

Wisp · 28/10/2008 14:53

The orange blossom is lovely, the grapefruit smells just like a grapefruit essential oil, and buying the essential oil would save a fortune!

Thomcat · 28/10/2008 14:55

It's ALL about Lime, Basil & Maderin.
Never met anyone worth knowing that has ever disagreed.

ShinyPinkPumpkin · 28/10/2008 14:58

My favourite is Pomegranate Noir but that's more of a warmer type of scent.

I have the grapefruit and lime, basil and manderine bath oils both of which are lovely

Can you get to try some maybe?
It really is the only way.

I smelled the Marc Jacobs one- Daisy- and didn't like it yet on me it smells great!

Thomcat · 28/10/2008 15:03

Ring them and get them to send you some samples. They can just send the sticks with scent on them.

I have worn and loved:

Nectarine Blossom & hoiney (very sweet though)
Pomegranate Noir (DP wears this one quite a bit)
Orange Blossom (I have it as a body cream and love it)
Vintage Gardenia
Grapefruit (I like this one)
French Likme Blossom (Lovely)
Red Roses (lovely for day time)
blue agava & cacao

I used to love wild fig and cassis but went right off it, too strong.

My favourite is lime basil & manderin.

The new one - is it mint and cedarwood or something sounds nice.

You can fragrance combine too.

So orange blossom worn with french lime for example is lovley.

WideWebWitch · 28/10/2008 15:05

I bought dh lime basil and mandarin, it's lovely. There's some cool actor, whose name escapes me, who wears it too thus proving it's NOT just for women (dh was sceptical)

expatinscotland · 28/10/2008 15:05

the orange blossom one in summer.

keep it in the fridge and spritz in on.

mmmmm.

the nutmeg and ginger one in Autumn.

Botbot · 28/10/2008 15:08

I've got Honeysuckle and Jasmine, which is not citrusy at all but very very nice.

Thomcat · 28/10/2008 15:08

My Dp wears Lime, basil and manderin as an aftershave, and showers in the shower gel. And he also has a spritz of the pomegranite noir.

expatinscotland · 28/10/2008 15:17

Hmm, must have a sniff of this lime and mandarin concoction.

DH currently uses Arran Aromatics 'Bay Leaf', which smells divine.

Tillyscoutsmum · 28/10/2008 15:23

Sorry to hijack OP - but which ones last the longest ?

I usually use Origins which is lovely, but doesn't seem to last very long. I want to treat myself to some Jo Malone for my wedding day. I'm going to try some next week but just wondered which ones lasted the longest ?

mynameisluka · 28/10/2008 15:28

Another vote from me for lime basil and mandarin. Dh also wears it when I don't!

Thomcat · 28/10/2008 15:39

What do you mean - which scent from Jo Malone lasts the longest?????

SunshineSmith · 28/10/2008 15:40

Basil and mandarin..is loovely! Using it today! x

othersideofthefence · 28/10/2008 15:54

Another vote for Lime, basil and mandarin - it's light and quite refeshing.

I am tempted to order the grapefruit, but am worried it will be too grapefruity

jlh69 · 28/10/2008 15:56

Love the grapefruit- never wear anything else now. Not keen on the Lime, Mandarin and basil

Tillyscoutsmum · 28/10/2008 16:01

Sorry - I mean which scent lasts the longest once its on your skin. I find a lot of "natural" type scents fade quite quickly.

Sparkletastic · 28/10/2008 16:09

Pomegranate Noir lasts - it packs a punch! Blue Agave and Cacao has fairly good staying power but is fairly subtle and sweet. The fig one didn't do much on me - lovely then gone after an hour. Really fancy the Black Vetyver and Cafe one as apparently that is fairly strong. Bought Nutmeg and Ginger for a friend and she liked it but it is a subtle spice scent.

Thomcat · 28/10/2008 16:11

oh sorry, I see.

Hmmmm, well, I'm not sure tbh. The lime basil is quite light so you might not notice it much yourself but I think it lasts quite well. The heavier scents are stronger so would last longer imo.

Do you know what is lovely that lasts ages - Stella McCartneys - Rose Absolute. I've had SO many comments from men and women about that. It's very natural, strong, lasts ages. Oh it's divine.

OllieWollieWoo · 28/10/2008 16:29

Great asnswers - thank you! Think I'll go for the lime, basil and manderin one rather than risk the grapefruit for now - but will make sure I get a sniff of it for future reference (esp as I love the Body Shop grapefruit range!) Wonder if my sis will stretch to some shower gel too???!!!!
