JIgsaw - changing- is it just me?

I used to walk into Jigsaw and want to buy almost everything- especially the lovely cardis and tops and some dresses. Now it all looks so different. Baggy dresses and smock tops and hardly and nice cardis at all. They also seem to have put up their prices- £95 for an ordinary wooly jumper I saw last week. Same price for cotton trousers etc.
I heard they had anew designer last year- is that it?

Fat Face do some pretty cardis/jumpers etc.

Totally agree about Jigsaw. I am gutted, but my bank account isn't!

alittleteapot · 30/10/2008 10:38

i bought a couple of things from Reiss but v expensive and just fell apart. plus not loose and pretty enough for me really so never really felt right anyway.

i hope someone from jigsaw is looking in on this thread...

what's agnes b like these days? too pricey? too worky?

alittleteapot · 30/10/2008 12:58

ps am sahm for now and resisting the ikea family velour tracksuits (dh says no!) but v v tempted

Horton · 30/10/2008 14:03

I think Reiss has some lovely stuff but it's quite pricey for what it is. Hearing that it is also badly made has put me right off.

I love Agnes B every time I go there. It's a lot more expensive than Jigsaw, though, isn't it? They usually have good sales.

alittleteapot · 30/10/2008 19:23

it is pricey hence i haven't been there for ages. but i had a couple of silk cardis from there that lasted about ten years.

honestfriend · 30/10/2008 22:10

I had to laugh- yesterday in the Times they were asking various fashion peeps what they were giving up due to credit crunch- the creative director of JIGSAW(person who is filling it now with crap) said she would NOT give up her Jigsaw wollies- could h ave fooled me- maybe she ought to read this thread.

I used to love Kew too, but I got their catalogue today and couldn't believe how frumpy and boring it all is. Prices seem to have increased there too.

These days my faves are Fat Face, Whitestuff and Hennes.

PheasantPlucker · 31/10/2008 12:44

Agree. And I went into Kew in Chichester on Tuesday, having gone on and on about it to a friend, and it was SO DULL. (I felt embarrassed!!) Jigsaw too, I used to go for an occasional treat, now too expensive and not nice enough to justify the price.
I do like White Compnay (have one of their skirts on (old) today. And a 2 year old Kew cardi thing.

PuppyMonkey · 31/10/2008 12:55

Agree Jigsaw has gone to pot.I have cardis and jumpers I bought there for my birthday four years ago which are much nicer than anything in there now...

All coats everywhere are shit this year too. I am still wearing my Monsoon one from three years ago and people keep stopping me in the street asking where I got my coat.

Horton · 31/10/2008 14:42

I like White Stuff and Fatface, too.

Hobbs has some surprisingly okay coats (nice waisted shapes) at the moment.

midnightexpress · 31/10/2008 14:51

I agree with the OP. Haven't been in for ages as the colours just always seem so sludgy and depressing and it's way over-priced for the quality.

Horton · 10/11/2008 21:24

Having complained madly about Jigsaw on this thread, I went in there a few days ago and came away with a fantastic haul! Do look at the Cabbages and Roses stuff - it is v old-school plainish Jigsaw, very lovely colours and nice fabrics. They have beautiful thin cashmere wrap tops in jewel colours and wonderful silk velvet flippy mid-calf skirts. Also crazy empire line jersey dresses that make you look like you ought to be wafting about in a castle - beautifully cut. Honestly, the last five times I've been in, I've walked out without even wanting to try anything on but this time I saw so much that I wanted that I had real trouble deciding what to buy!

My2Monkeys · 10/11/2008 21:35

I too have stopped even looking in Jigsaw, which used to be my favourite shop pre-kids. Horton's last post is making me think that perhaps I should check them out again though?

Horton · 10/11/2008 21:50

Honestly, I did find a lot of lovely things! But there were some shockers in there too. Maybe you have to search a bit harder these days.

hifi · 10/11/2008 21:51

i actually like jigsaw now, havent looked for years but popped in a few weeks ago.

i would have bought 2 to 3 pieces of knitwear but didnt think they were worth £95+.

hifi · 10/11/2008 21:53

ooh look
