I went to Harvey Nicks, got a Dries van Noten charcoal velvet jacket with a huge collar and a shot silk orange full length skirt... and have worn both since so understand your urge to be different. (haven't seen anything of late though!)

samsonara · 24/10/2008 23:12

Congratulations SnoopDog, why not just go for all three colours and really get into the scottish theme..I'm loving this one for you..
Tartan gown

Dragonbutter · 24/10/2008 23:14

i did green.inspired by this one

mazzystartled · 24/10/2008 23:15

go to liberty - they have wonderful, glamourous stuff

bundle - i flirted with a dries van noten dress for my wedding, but ended up taking it back, sort of wish i hadn't

bundle · 24/10/2008 23:15

monsoon?

SnoopDog · 24/10/2008 23:16

i am not sure about that dress on me,

i am not scottish,

i like this in the niche collection, 6 along, peacock seattle, but it is too expensive, and possibally too, well, you know, much

dragon, i tried something simliar today,

i liked it,

my mum and sis loved it,

it is not the 'one' though

OP posts:
Dragonbutter · 24/10/2008 23:18

it's beautiful. good taste.

SnoopDog · 24/10/2008 23:18

bundle,

very similar to what i am thinking of having made for me

OP posts:
SnoopDog · 24/10/2008 23:19

i tried this today, and for a 'traditional' dress i liked it

OP posts:
Dragonbutter · 24/10/2008 23:21

traditional dresses look great in black and white pics. my green dress looked drab in black and white pics but good in colour.

samsonara · 24/10/2008 23:23

I realy like the black Ravenna and the peacock seattle is a lovely colour.

bundle · 24/10/2008 23:25

the monsoon style is gorgeous and really good value, and you could really splash out on an amazing shrug/jacket or even a handmade shawl.

SnoopDog · 24/10/2008 23:26

oh my, dragon,

the wedding dress lady today mentioned madam butterfly when i said i liked suzanne neville

OP posts:
Dragonbutter · 24/10/2008 23:30

the madam butterfly is beautiful. more green than is showing in those pics.
i tried it on after a day of boring white dresses and loved it.

S1ur · 24/10/2008 23:37

Hey snoop, congrats and all.

How tall are you? only I think the maxi style works best if taller imo.

S1ur · 24/10/2008 23:39

simple and green

simple and black

heh, not that you're going for simple! I will shuddup

SnoopDog · 24/10/2008 23:45

slur,

too green,

too black,

lol,

i am 5, 9,

pale, washed out interesting skin,

red hair, loads of natural curls,

I had a Suzanne Neville dress - she makes such amazing gowns and that peacock colour is just stunning.

Dragonbutter · 24/10/2008 23:49

i saw a beautiful one in my dressmakers shop last week. (i popped in to say hello)
it was gold(ish) with dusky pink embroidery and lovely detail but no sparkles.
would look great with your hair and skin.

SnoopDog · 24/10/2008 23:58

what do you all think about a black dress,

with ivory sash,

OP posts:
Dragonbutter · 25/10/2008 00:00

sounds good.
presumably you wouldn't wear the sash a la miss great britain.

MinkyBorage · 25/10/2008 00:04

www.net-a-porter.com/product/34924 might be a bit quirkie

SnoopDog · 25/10/2008 00:04

lol,

i was thinking sash around waist and bridesmaids wear the opposite

so them in ivory with black sash
