Does anyone else get this? When I wear my nice skirts and tights, they seem to go all static and the skirt is forever rising up and not in a good way. How do I stop it happening?????

wear a slip underneath, or avoid synthetic carpets

fishie · 16/10/2008 13:43

slip
hairspray on tights

PuppyMonkey · 16/10/2008 13:45

Ooh, do slips still exist???

Hairspray sounds like a good idea ta.

Do like me.."Dont wear Tights" i never do..[or ever have] car'nt stand em.

janeite · 16/10/2008 17:15

Slips from M&S - £8 I think mine was - but if anybody knows where I could get a black silk slip that comes to sort of mid thigh or just below I would be very grateful. They do make a difference.

TskullsScreaming · 16/10/2008 17:34

Apparantly a safety pin in the hem of your skirt stops this. I haven't tried it though.

Few more ideas here

PuppyMonkey · 16/10/2008 19:03

TskullsScreaming - thanks for that website, they are great tips and will try them!

I can't bear the thought of no tights on a cold day - or slips!

the word pantyhose is fantastic. much better than tights.

Mercy · 16/10/2008 19:07

Does anyone wear petticoats these days?!

NoNickname · 16/10/2008 19:08

I've seen a spray that eliminates it. I think it's in the Kleeneze catalogue.

NoNickname · 16/10/2008 19:09

Yep, it's Kleeneze Click on Luandry, then go forward a page. It's at the top - £3.50.

PuppyMonkey · 16/10/2008 19:12

You mean slips Mercy ... Ta No Nickname, but I might try the "free" solutions first and see how I get on.

I've always been a very static person...oooh my hair against a wall.... Sticks right up!!

noooo, slips are little boys' underpants (apparently)

captainofthemummies · 16/10/2008 19:23

I was told that a safety pin the back seam stops this, but I only ever wear jeans.

IotasCat · 16/10/2008 19:23

only in M&S Mercy

PuppyMonkey · 16/10/2008 19:26

Slips are so not underpants!!!

Another vote for kleeneze antistatic spray. It is brilliant for frizzy/flyaway hair too - just spray a tiny bit on your hair brush. I spray the inside of my skirt (while still on the hanger , let it dry, and it is fine.

samsonara · 17/10/2008 10:07

To avoid or get rid of static, I used to run the bottom edge of a metal clothes hanger over the inside of skirt (you know the type you get from the drycleaners.
