I Sent 2 bags of my 17 yr old daughters school clothes to my local charity shop..skirts, blouse's ,shoes, ties, pullovers.and "by mistake" 20 pairs!! of 60 denier opaque Black Tights most were still in good condition...i have seen everything put out on the shop floor..[as the clothes were all in good condition] but the Tights are not there..my daughters will give me hell..dont know where they have gone, i asked a shop assistant but she was on a different shift..these Tights are "M&S" Brand at £8 for pack of three and Topshop 120 denier Black Tights at £5 per pair !![£65 worth in Total].. they were all unpackaged.

Surely even in good condition any unpackaged tights would have gone straight in the bin.

Think you have to write them off now really!

mother2daughters · 13/10/2008 16:54

£65 worth!!

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 13/10/2008 16:55

they will have chucked them

i would be really surprised if they sold un-packaged tights

not a lot you can do now

mother2daughters · 13/10/2008 22:39

In the Bin !!Well Its the last time im giving any clothes to that charity shop!!

OP posts:
Lauriefairycake · 13/10/2008 22:41

I just don't think charity shops sell unpackaged tights

BoysAreLikeZombies · 13/10/2008 22:42

I imagine it's from a health point of view, like not taking back a swimsuit with the sticky gusset liner gone.

newgirl · 14/10/2008 13:41

surely its worth asking just in case they are in a pile somewhere still? if not, never mind, it was for a good cause

mother2daughters · 14/10/2008 21:05

I Went back today ..still !! nothing..one old lady says they were probably graded as rags and sent to a Textile recycling company !!£65 pounds worth!! now i will have to buy my daughters some new Tights unless i can get them back from this textile recycle firm

OP posts:
Cappuccino · 14/10/2008 21:09

but really

would you want to buy someone's second hand tights? I buy from charity shops and I wouldn't

not to mention the fact that they would have no sizes in; if you did try to buy them you would just be guessing if they fit you

you were the ones that sent them in there, to be blunt

mother2daughters · 15/10/2008 13:24

Gone back to the charity shop and a young woman sales assistant is going to try and get them back for me ..after telling her there was £65 worth donated by mistake.so im now hoping for the best..my daughters are still not aware of my error..luckily the weather has been mild so they have not being wearing Tights to school.

OP posts:
Dragonbutter · 15/10/2008 13:28

YABridiculous.
This was your mistake.
Not the charity shop's mistake.
why do you need so many tights anyway, are you a bank robber?

mamadiva · 15/10/2008 13:28

I work in a charity shop sometimes and we have a rag bin where things like that go then they get taken away once a week so they might still be there but will be buried under dirty, torn or whatever else cliothes wouldnt bother now TBH.

mother2daughters · 15/10/2008 17:46
