What kind of top

I've just bought a very flattering dark denim pencil skirt in the M&S sale. What kind of top should I wear with it in order to smarten it up enough for work, would you think?

And can pencil skirts be worn with boots, or do I need heeled shoes with it?

Anybody?

I usually wear mine with boots, but if you have legs for it stilettos can be very nice.
I wear my pencils with a shirt and cardigan for the smart but soft look

high heeled boots, that is (but that's because I'm incredibly short)

for work how about a shirt underneath a v necked jumper or tank top?

i'd probably go shoes and opaque tights but boots would look fine i'm sure.
