Is Landsend aimed at the more 'mature'?

Because when I look through the catalogue I can't help but think it is, but is it just my associations with it? (my grandad always used to buy stuff from them)

Well my mum is a fan, and she's almost 60.

Overmydeadbody · 10/10/2008 19:31

Ah, I thought so

Yes. Old, fat Americans, primarily. Republican ones, I would guess.

But the down jackets are absolutely wonderful. And so are the T shirts - especially the really long ones for sleeping in.

Lauriefairycake · 10/10/2008 19:42

more 'mature'

'half-dead' is the phrase that springs to mind

Overmydeadbody · 10/10/2008 19:44

Well maybe seeker, but they're not exactly flattering are they?

Overmydeadbody · 10/10/2008 19:45

Laurie that sounds about right for expat

OP posts:
Anna8888 · 10/10/2008 19:45

Yes.

Overmydeadbody · 10/10/2008 19:46

(not that I'm saying expat is half dead, just that it wouldn't surprise me if she had a coat from there)

I'll stop digging now shall I?

nickytwoooohtimes · 10/10/2008 19:51

Surely the over-abundance of elasticated waists is a give away?

seeker · 10/10/2008 19:54

Not flattering, but WARM!!!!!!!!!

And I am not a Republican.

And I have been in the same relationship for more that 25 years - I don't wear nightclothes becasue they are flattering!

And what's wrong with elastic waists?

expatinscotland · 10/10/2008 19:55

I have a lot of stuff from there.

I'm not fat or Republican.

The outdoor stuff is actually really good quality, durable and cheap.

zippitippitoes · 10/10/2008 19:56

the one here closed down

think we are too trendy lolol

the most dull clothes imaginable the klind of thing you get in newspaper ads

i think very mature is the answer

expatinscotland · 10/10/2008 19:58

i am getting the extreme squall jacket from there.

not a coat.

coats are useless around here. you need a jacket with a hood and it needs to be waterproof and windproof.

expatinscotland · 10/10/2008 20:00

the US catalogue is way, way better than what's on offer on the British site/shops.

but i don't like British clothes for the most part as most don't fit me - especially the trousers, which tend to have too small an area for the pelvis IME.

percent · 10/10/2008 20:06

I have two coats from there.

The best coats I have ever had.

Expat is right. Waterproof, windproof, hooded and most of all warm.

cariboo · 10/10/2008 20:16

Agree that women's stuff looks frumpy. And is. LLBean much more flattering. But LE does wonderful children's stuff, esp outerwear, as they call it.

unclefluffy · 10/10/2008 21:09

I miss LLBean. Used to live 15 minutes drive from one of their actual stores in the States. Just wish my bump allowed me to zip up my lovely down bodywarmer.

cariboo · 11/10/2008 08:11

They ship their stuff internationally.

ivykaty44 · 11/10/2008 08:16

Aimed at outsized (both ways up and out) as they dont hem their trousers so that you can hem them to your own leg length. So if you have a 37" inside leg they are great
