HELP! DH and I have been invited to hindu wedding at end of Nov which is from 10am till 4pm. Dont know anything other that I shouldnt wear red as bride wears red. So need something that is a) warm b) appropriate and c) i wont feel like a prawn wearing at 10 am (was advised that as most guests will be wearing very ornate saris it is difficult not to look drab aaaargh. Am large of nork, short arsed and size 14. Any ideas?

Am hindu and can say for certainty that you can wear almost anything that you would wear to a church wedding for example. Especially if the wedding is taking place in this country and the couple live here.

Obvious no-nos are short skirts/dresses - knee length fine. Short sleeves, sleeveless are ok too (most sari blouses are short sleeves so no worries about offending anyone). Can wear red, but prehaps not bright bright red. Preferably not black though.

If you feel you have nothing 'ornate' why not go all out on accessories? A flash pair of shoes and handbag etc...

Having no sartorial sense myself, I can't suggest anything specific to wear with your proportions. However all women look fab in a sari - maybe ask to borrow one. Hope you get something out of this post though.
