More wedding outfi advice needed - colour matching

Ok, I've got a late afternoon/evening wedding to go to in three weeks. I've found a dress I love from Phase Eight, it's metallicish pewter-silver colour, v neck, narrow waist and full skirt. I love it, the shape is good on me (hour glass figure) but I need to know what to wear with it.

I'd like a shrug/bolero type cardi to cover my shoulders during the ceremony, and I need shoes and a bag. I think a bright colour would look good with it, but can't decide what - pink or purple maybe? What do you reckon, and where can I find said shrug? Have tried Coast and Monsoon so far, but no joy. I might consider a wrap/shawl/pashmina type thing but they are not really very practical with an 18 month old to entertain.

Please do not suggest mustard/yellow/orange - it really doesn't suit me! Reds, deep pinks and purples do, not sure about teal or other blues. I've got dark hair, dark eyes, and very slightly tanned skin.

Thanks all!

purple sounds like it would be good, and it is everywhere this season - can you link to dress?

traceybath · 05/10/2008 21:21

i'd second purple - lots of it around - m&s/next/lkbennett etc depending on budget

flippineck · 05/10/2008 21:29

This is the dress. It was a bit pricey so the rest of the outfit needs to be at the cheaper end of the budget really.

I tried this shrug in Mosoon, but the colour was a bit flat and it wasn't quite the right shape. This one is a better shape, and looks ok, but determined not to wear black to my DB's wedding.

And what about shoes?! It's never easy is it?

Thanks for the latest suggestions, there's some great stuff. I'm going to go to Warehouse tomorrow to see that the wrap is like.

Next have got some nice pink satin shoes and a bag that matches, but I still haven't found a pink shrug I like. Like the purple shrug, but can't find suitable purple shoes. Pah!
