..if I am a 5 and a half, then what would be the best size a 5 or a 6.

I am 5.5 and my 6's are a bit roomy, but thick socks fill them up a bit. Mine are green, very royal

AND I think mine are beautiful! Almost a work of art

These were the plain black ones without the strap - argyll? I think they're called. Better now I have bought insoles.

I wore mine today to change some light fittings...just in case, y'know...

Ok so probably 6 and thick socks, but I have got calves that are pretty far from skinny (have found it hard to find nice winter boots to fit them - think footballers lags), do you think they will be to tight on me?

iknow there are many hunter fans here on mumsnet but i find these much more comfy than hunters

6 with thick socks (go for huntress if calves are a little chunky)

i've got runner's calves - they are ok unless i wear jeans and then i have to do ridiculous things to get them off...

Dh has suggested measuring my calves to compare with another chunky calved, Hunter wearing Mumsnetters, but I think I might be too embarrassed to fess up to the hugeness of my calves (which are out of all proportion to my body - honest!)

I have to wear Huntress rather than Hunter wellies, and I honestly don't think I'm that big (am a size 12 for clothes and think my calves are in proportion to the rest of me, although happy to be told otherwise by MNers who know me).

They are a 6, I'm always a 6, but I think they are very roomy. Better when I wear my thick bedsocks inside

Can anyone tell me how durable the Hunter wellies are? I walk alot and have got through a ridiculous numbers of pairs of wellies over the last couple of years - the soles just wear straight through, or the rubber perishes on the uppers and they get holes in. Am fed up with buying new wellies every few months. Are the Hunters tougher than other boots?

Much better than others, imo. My last pair survived 4 years of intensive dog walking and allotmenteering.

Then had a pair of Joules ones that managed only one winter.

Now back on Hunter. Only had this pair a few months, but so far so good.

Ok I have a 15 inch calf - that's probably huge, right? I'm trying to imagine that wrapped in a thick woolly sock!

LOL I just measured my calves. 38cm (which I think is nearly 15inches).

I can get into Hunter, but they're too tight for comfort with thick socks and jeans. Wear Huntress, but with more than enough extra space.

im a 4, got a 4 and still fit huge socks. dh really fancys me with my jeans tucked in.

Right I will find out if i can get a pair of Huntress (dh said he will start to call me Huntress, as it makes me sound like a comic book heroine), if not I think i'll ask for a 6, and if they don't fit I'll have to stick them on e-bay.

I'm more excited than I should be about a pair of wellies!
