Am on v. tight budget, and as a consequence my clothes/hair/make-up etc have been in decline for some time. I'm 20 weeks pg, nothing fits, and feel tired and fed up. I've got £50 birthday money which I was going to add to the general 'household' fund, but dh has insisted I spend it on myself, and as I don't usually have anything to spend on myself I really want to spend it wisely! I know there isn't a miracle solution to how I'm feeling - but has anyone got any ideas on how I could spend this sum (hopefully on something(s) that will last, and make me feel good again!) I look forward to reading your suggestions!

How about spending some of it on updating your make-up as this should last up to a year or so and then a the rest on a massage or facial or something to help you feel more refreshed.

Don't bother with clothes as you can get great maternity bargains on ebay, but maybe a few glam accessories to dress up your basics.

Happy birthday btw!

pedicure
new lipstick

I would spend it on some nice maternity basics, top and bottom so you feel better about yourself for the next 20 weeks.

bargain

I bought an empire line top and a tunic thing gathered under bust from Monsoon. They did last the whole way through and I got huge.

worth a look.

LaTrucha · 30/09/2008 16:25

Much as a pedicure, hair do, clothes etc must be tempting I think you should go for something that will last and always fit. Jewelery sounds like the way forward to me.

I bet you could pick up some simple diamond studs on ebay.

and some rose scented bubble bath. lovely.

Yes, buy one nice maternity outfit - I got a really great one in H&M - and wear it to death.

And buy some new (cheap) makeup.

LaTrucha · 30/09/2008 16:46

I'd prefer an outfit too.

Thanks for your suggestions - I'm erring towards clothes even though I might regret it later, but there are some really good links here so thanks for the tips everyone!

also not perfume as you may go off it when not pg IYSWIM

i woudl go for a bag i think

or some decent tops that you wear for a while. not maternity necessarily, just longer line and not vey fitted. in case you are not in your size 8 jeasn by teh time you leave hospital
