Ball dress, posh, sexy, money no object...

...ok so maybe there is a limit!

Its my daughter's school parents association posh do at a very posh venue and i want to knock em dead, and husband of course.

Got until March to slim down and worry about dress but thought I'd start early.

I am willing to spend up to about £250-£300 ish if I need to, or could rent one.

Saw a lovely Amanda Wakeley one on ebay but wrong size

cgi.ebay.co.uk/AMANDA-WAKELEY-DESIGNER-EVENING-DRESS-SIZE-20-GREEN_W0QQitemZ300262026808Q QcmdZViewItem?hash=item300262026808&trkparms=72%3A1295%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&tr ksid=p3286.c0.m14

Think green would really suit as have mid auburn hair. Am 5'5" size 12ish, good boobs! curvy and I'm 31 but look younger.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

emblestrembles · 27/09/2008 16:56

Looks nice online. THink nearest one is London so could spend a day up there dress hunting.

Maybe nearer Xmas would be good - ball season.

Any other places I should try while in town? I am so rubbish at this stuff, never had to buy such a posh frock.

Ooh, I live near Henley - bet they have posh frock shops there?!!

Worth looking at Debenhams - they have a good selection of evening wear.

get thee over to Reading, lots of good shops there. John lewis and House of Fraser have a posh ball gown section, or there's always Coast or even Monsoon..
Designers at Debenhams? Got a nice Ben de Lisi dress there for a work do, and a Maria Grachvogel one for a wedding, both around £150 so you'll have cash spare for shoes..!!

JackieNo · 27/09/2008 21:42

House of Fraser have some nice looking ones

Silver
Green halterneck

Possibly also visit John Lewis (out of stock on the website).

ithinkimtallandblonde · 27/09/2008 22:47

Try net a porter they'll send you the stuff you can try it on if you don't like it they'll send a taxi to pick it up. In the cocktail dress section they have some in that price range, if you sort the search low to high you won't end up lusting after dresses with 3 noughts on the price tag.
www.brownsfashion.com have some nice dresses too.

emblestrembles · 28/09/2008 13:15

OMG if I had 6 grand this would be it...

I have the same colouring and saw a drop dead gorgeous 2 piece( fitted bustier and skirt~) in olive green satin yesterady... but was in a bridal shop. did ponder whehter it would look out of place at a ball.
Definitely go for the colour as olive green is s good for us red heads. Trry Phase 8 as they use that palette a lot. john Lewis also worth wathcing.

ithinkimtallandblonde · 29/09/2008 11:44

Ahh you didn't do as i said and now your lusting, it only makes it harder.

ithinkimtallandblonde · 29/09/2008 14:39

Have a look at www.grahamandgreen.co.uk they have some halterneck dresses that are similar to the one you like but in cream.
