I'm getting married on Monday but not having a wedding. Just me and dp and 2 witnesses (actually only 1 witness so far - must organise a second).
Everyone has been giving me a hard time, insisting I "wear something nice" so eventually, against my better judgement I went shopping and bought this skirt and this top to wear (also this jacket in case it was cold, but I don't think it matches).
I found the whole expedition utterly depressing - the idea of "wearing something naice" to go and stand in an empty registry office was just gloomy. Plus, that is truly more than the total I have spent on clothes in the last 2 years and it's not even on stuff I adore and will wear loads.
Dp said why didn't I take the lot back and use the money instead to buy these MBT Mary-Janes which I have coveted for ages but we can't possibly afford.
I was so happy. Took the Monsoon lot back and went to our nearest MBT stockist to order the shoes, intending to wear them for my wedding on Monday. I know, I know, but it works for me.
Ordered them last Saturday. Paid for them. Was promised that they'd be here by tomorrow. Phoned them to check on Monday that the order had gone through. Phoned them again on Tuesday and was told the order had gone through and been accepted which means they are in stock.
Got a phone call late this afternoon - they're out of stock. I'm so disappointed. I'm cross with the shoe shop too - they can't help them being out of stock, but they have had my money for a week now and they could have let me know a bit sooner. Buggers.
Will have to try and go shopping on Saturday (with 2 children in tow). Too late to order anything now. Don't really know what to look for. I know I claim not to be bothered about what I wear, but I was so excited about the idea of having a special, extravagant pair of shoes to wear on my wedding day. Now I'm back to wearing old trainers, rubber flipflops or a pair of weird brown shoes that I think might be slippers.
