Want to start wearing skirts with tights and long boots this winter, but am yet to find a single skirt that I like or is the right length

I want just above knee length, but perhaps due to me being a short arse, I can't find any.

Not too keen on patterned stuff either really.

I am so sick of wearing jeans all of the time, as I just end up feeling scruffy.

So, any ideas ??

buy something too long and have it altered?

vacaloca · 25/09/2008 17:04

I've just spent all morning looking but I want something that just about hides my horrible knees. I found two that were above the knee in Gap and Fat Face. Not sure if that'll be any good for you.

IllegallyBrunette · 25/09/2008 17:07

Hmm can't really afford to have anything altered aswel as buying it iykwim.

Will check both of those places out vac, thanks.

Tweed Skirt-WG308-Skirts at Boden one of these in long may be the right length

brimfull · 25/09/2008 17:09

sorry

girlsnextdoor · 25/09/2008 19:12

Learn to shorten it your self! Not hard if it is A-line or even "swishy" if you only want to take it up by the length of the hem etc.

I like Kew for skirts and have my eye on a couple that I will have to shorten- a moleskin one and a cord one.

PuppyMonkey · 25/09/2008 19:14

White Stuff. French Connection.

girlsnextdoor · 25/09/2008 19:16

white stuff skirts are too long for me- they are massive! They are all length 25" and I need a 22 or 23".

PuppyMonkey · 25/09/2008 19:19

Oh. Never measured them before but I have seen them do some quite short ones this season.

You been in the petite places - Dotty P's and Next etc?

zippitippitoes · 25/09/2008 19:22

there is a beige cord one in jane norman looks ok here

pr seeing as you are young here

anyfucker · 25/09/2008 19:23

IllegallyBrunette · 25/09/2008 19:25

Ahh I like the first one zippi, others a bit short though.

All a bit pricey though tbh, but will at least go and try on the ones in the shops.

White stuff sometimes have good skirts (length wise that is) and if you order today (online) use the code squirrel and you will get 17% off!

zippitippitoes · 25/09/2008 19:29

that beige one looked shortish to me nice soft cord i saw it in the shop

reminded me of a skirt i had from richard shops in about 1972

girlsnextdoor · 25/09/2008 19:30

my email from white stuff said order yesterday and get 17% off- but then you do have to pay for P&P.

zippitippitoes · 25/09/2008 19:30

i asm the only one on mn who thinks jane norman stuff is nice lol

tho i agree it is on the expensive side

as i mainly shop in new look

pickie · 25/09/2008 19:36

zippi, I tried on the soft cord one and it is an akward length (midcalf)but I am a shortie. 17% is deffo today and not sure if it would work using 2 codes but code 'cheers' will give you another £5 off (till 30th)

zippitippitoes · 25/09/2008 19:41
