the outrageously glam over size 16 is absolutely spot on!

Anna8888 · 24/09/2008 07:56

I have this - fur on front and knit on back - and it looks great

TheBlonde · 24/09/2008 08:00

I had a fur trimmed one a few years ago
Wish I'd kept it now

Nbg · 24/09/2008 08:14

I have one that I got from Debenhams 4 years ago and I still love it.
It looks very much like the one in anna's link except its fur all over.

I missed wearing it last year when pg.

am not a bit gilet fan, can see the apres ski advantage. but not for your avg high street - would be redic

TheBlonde · 24/09/2008 11:08

gilet and cardi in one

sherby · 24/09/2008 11:10

like them for a walk in the woods on a sunday kind of situation

they make people look a weird box shape

WinkyWinkola · 24/09/2008 11:13

People who wear them make me think of the soothsayer from Asterix and the Soothsayer.

I saw a woman looking fab in one yesterday.

Kind of silky fur, slightly longer shape, not bulky, belted but open over skinny jeans with boots. Plain long sleeve tee.

She looked fab.

Helped that she was gorgeous of course!

You can't wear fur! It's too creepy.

Jennyusedtobepink · 24/09/2008 16:17

I (misguidedly) tried a faux fir gilet a number of years ago. It was a mistake. Vile, IMO.

kt14 · 26/09/2008 20:24

oh arse, have just got this (v cheap off ebay)
www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/37201413
will people snigger at me in the street?

mrsshackleton · 26/09/2008 20:34

Oh I think a gilet is the solution to my homeworking, my office is a big draughty room and always freezing and at the moment I wear the world's mankiest grey fleece and look like a style refugee
Am desperate to find a flattering one, I tried one on in top shop the other day which I thought would be the answer
I looked like the abominable snowman
Any suggestions so gratefully received

LetThemEatCake · 26/09/2008 20:49

kt14 -no they will not, you will look as lovely as the lovely woman I saw t'other day.

oh bless you LTEC, I fear I won't at all.

Going to wear it open with plain t shirt, slim jeans and boots though but that's as far as the comparison goes!!

TheBlonde · 27/09/2008 07:48

mrsshackleton - more gilets discussed here

kt14 · 28/09/2008 19:39

Monsoon gilet arrived yesterday. Modelled it for my very diplomatic best friend and even she laughed. Openly. I looked like a furry barrel.
So it's gone back and that's the start and end of my relationship with gilets.
