MAC sharkskin eye thingy?

I have decided at the age of 25 that I am going to learn how to do eye makeup properly and have lots of people talking about this product as a kind of base/pencil, but I don't really know what iit is/does. Can anyone help me out?

It's a shadestick - like a crayon almost. As a base, you just colour in you whole lid and then apply powder over the top.

this girl does really good make up tutorials and she uses the sharkskin shadestick a lot.

i got one after watching her do her eye make up. it does seem to make your eye shadow last longer and keep it its place. it does look scary when you first put it on, but i couldnt even see it after putting shadow on top.
