Best products to make me look younger!

Have just seen myself in the mirror and my skin looks old - tired, crepey and well, just old. I've got a big work party on Saturday night and I was looking forward to dressing up for a rare night out. Can anyone recommend some products which will, temporarily at least, make me look just a little bit less haggard.

get some kip

My best tip is some highlighter or a shimmery pale eyeshadow. Dab on the inside corner of your eyes does wonders. If I lok really haggared I take it along the bottom of my eyes too. Then a bit on top of cheekbones, above eyebrows along nose and finally a dab in the centre of your lips on top of your lippy. Really perks you up and makes you look glowing.

Oh yes - Mr. Frosty pencil from Benefit - aplly to inside of corner of eyes like fishnet says. It's a wonder product.

chanel vitalumiere foundation

Stop looking at airbrushed pictures of impossibly 'perfect' women (I'm assuming that you have been looking at such pics...impossible to avoid, really!). You'll feel so much better once you have a true and balanced perspective on your looks.

Have a fab night out.

expatinscotland · 18/09/2008 23:26

warning: be wary of chanel vitalumiere foundation if your skin is oily or combination.

best to visit the chanel counter and let them have a look at your skin.

ditto expat - I have combo skin and vitalumiere makes me look like I have had a run in with an oil slick (plus incredibly pasty). There are cheaper and better foundations IMO .

Probably too late for this now but I bought some stuff in Aldi last week that promises an 'instant effect' and I thought yeah right, but for £2.99 it's worth a shot - OMG, it's fab!

Called something like Dual Action, it's in a thin tall bottle with a pump thing on top, and it's a red gel to firm you up and a white cream to moisturise that come out together like toothpaste, iyswim... anyway, put some on the deep furrows in my forehead and nose to mouth lines and I glanced in the mirror half an hour later to see myself looking.. well, not 10 years younger, but not permanently cross, either, which is how the lines tend to make me look in repose! In fact, after a few days' application, I'm looking a lot smoother and firmer.

So if you have an Aldi nearby it may be worth a whirl?

Makeup primer is great, it stops makeup settling into lines and pores and makes your whole face feel soft and velvety. I like MAC Prep and Prime, which is a little bit shimmery, and Clarins Instant Smooth. I've also heard good things about Laura Mercier and Benefit That Gal.
