My friend had alovely black wrap/poncho on today (from Debenhams AW08) and it looked v.stylish.
Capes are for superheroes.

Fimbo · 15/09/2008 21:17

NO

Cappuccino · 15/09/2008 21:18

I've seen a few nice ponchos in the last few weeks. Capes might be fashionable but it's a hard look to carry off, especially if you aren't slim.

Wear what suits your shape, not what's 'in' - that's what I say!

Thread adjourned

Cappuccino · 15/09/2008 21:21

oh yes

actually to be fair I just thought of that as I went into the kitchen

well Monsoon obv think it is 08 but you know better do you?

v high opinion of yourself you have for a mouse

Cappuccino · 15/09/2008 21:22

yes MrsMattie is right

we are not 13 anymore

Tutter · 15/09/2008 21:23

"especially if you aren't slim"

[aghast]

what are you saying?

OP posts:
Cappuccino · 15/09/2008 21:25

lolol

HuwEdwards · 15/09/2008 21:25

I really like that!

traceybath · 15/09/2008 21:26

I'm not sure that either ponchos or capes are terribly flattering to be fair.

They are up there with furry gilets in my list of things i want to wear but whenever i put them on i just don't look how i imagine i would.

But if you're willowy and tall i think that both can look good.

Aefondkiss · 15/09/2008 21:26

I like that Tutter, so are ponchos the new skinny jeans?

I never got round to wearing them either.... they just never seemed right on me.

MrsMattie · 15/09/2008 21:29

I'm tall with big norks and , urm, 'curves'...

I just look stoopid in capes. Even the word 'cape' makes me cringe, actually. Mind you, poncho isn't a better word, is it?

I think I will make do with a few nice, cosy cardigains

unknownrebelbang · 15/09/2008 21:40

I had the most gorgeous cape...when I was about 8.

themoon66 · 15/09/2008 22:56

Cape = Florence Nightingale

EyeballsintheSky · 15/09/2008 22:58

I'd be nice sewn up into a jumper...

stitch · 15/09/2008 22:58

i saw a lady weraing a poncho only two days ago. she looked lovely and stylish. and she was young and thin too

EyeballsintheSky · 15/09/2008 22:58

No no, I wouldn't be nice sewn into a jumper. That capey poncho-y thing would be

squatchette · 15/09/2008 23:13

I didn't realise they were making a come back.Last time they were 'in' i almost lived in them dd2 was a baby so must have been um 4yrs ago,was breast feeding which found them great for.
Am now bfing dd3 (2wks old wednesday) so will look out for some in the shops.Think they look lovely and love the monsoon one.

CostaRicanCod · 15/09/2008 23:19

i LIKEy the poncho tutter
i ahd a black one that i foudn great for nights out

( good for taxi warmth etc0

think capes are too rigid to be flattering

CostaRicanCod · 15/09/2008 23:20

Aefondkiss · 16/09/2008 16:02
