Coloured Opaques yay or nay?

I have been adding to my wardrobe.

I have fab brogue type black shoe boots and great black Queen type shoes. The dilemma - what tights to go with them.

A rather gorg burgundy/plum cord skirt and a black one similar.
Black tights? Or grey? burgundy? I have no clue.

It may not be trendy but i have always been a fan of charcoal grey, choc brown and black opaques, also love crocheted/patterned ones in black, have decided I can no longer get away with purple fishnets

Alambil · 08/09/2008 14:26

I think black skirt, coloured tights or coloured skirt, black tights

I'm hoping to get some coloured ones soon to go with a new outfit I've got coming - I don't care what anyone else thinks either!!

poppy34 · 08/09/2008 14:27

avoid red ones... I once made that mistake - cue work colleague sayign that they made me look like I've skinned my legs - somehow that has put me off coloured tights

I've been wearing a plum jumper/black skirt/plum tights combination.

I got plum, grey, choc brown tights from M&S. Apparently mytights.com has a good selection of coloured opaques - I need to buy a pink pair and a purple pair so I will be looking there later

so, a yay, from me

CoolYourJets · 08/09/2008 15:46

THank you one and all.

may just go off to mytights site now!

Lol at skinned legs.

I was\wondering about crocheted ones in black with the plum skirt,

What is the consensus on matching top with tights? I have a tendency to overmatch so have concerns about this .

oh and Queen as in HRH not Freddie .

I hae been looking for a knee length quite straight cord plum skirt - is yours similar and, if so, where did you get it from please.

And yay to coloured (but not lurid) opaques.

dexter73 · 08/09/2008 17:09

Found a nice cord skirt in Toast but how can they charge £79 for it!!

moonshine · 08/09/2008 17:45

Oh yes dexter73 very nice, but agree that it is not worth £79!

Are Queen shoes high heeled patents?
I bought some gorgeous shoes today, am in love, and will be off to buy some coloured opaques to wear with them

Coloured opaques? Yay and thrice yay! I have

turquoise
purple
am coveting mustard and deep pink.

With yours..I would say grey. Also some of the patterned opaues can look very nice, esp. with a plain top.

Have just been looking
Can't quite find
High heeled brogue-Bertie called Hay
not quite as high as this
only 3 laces and nicer than this

DarrellRivers · 08/09/2008 17:55

Now I need some high heeled patents now
I had a gorgeous pair in the late 90s when I was glamorous girl about town
Can't seem to find them in the cupboards anymore

TheGreatScootini · 08/09/2008 18:02

Patterned tights are the thing this season. It sounds horrid but ive got some tartan ones from Matalan (they were in Grazia last week) and they look very nice with my black tulip skirt..

I like grey opaques as a quieter option.Go with everythign practically..lovely and warm too..

DarrellRivers · 08/09/2008 18:06

Yes, delving into the recesses of my brain, I think I saw some jacquard patterned tights in H+M.
I think I wil get some plum and sage coloured plain ones as well

controlfreakinfreaky · 08/09/2008 18:10
