Casual but not too casual winter coat, any ideas please?

Okay, I'm a mum, spend my life doing the school run. I'm 33 and a size 10. I live in straight leg jeans and converse. I need a coat that goes with all of that, but that wouldn't look too out of place on the rare occasion I go out. Warm and practical would be good, but a bit stylish too - in a jeans and converse kind of way, if you see what I mean. Any ideas please?

warehouse coat?

Prefer a bit shorter, over the bum, but not to the knees. Anything else? Also, that's possibly a bit too smart for me.

our local Benetton has some great coats in at the moment. I bought one yesterday but could have happily bought 2 or 3 - I liked them all!
