Know they were very fashionable a while ago - are they still?

Eyeing up a black Boden wrap dress on ebay - could be a bargain but will I look 3 years past my sell by date?

avoid wrap dresses if you ar e a shortarse

otherwise the wrap bit is at your waist and YOU AHVE TO ADJUST WITH SAFETY PINS ETC

good if got big boobs and help assentuate a waist even if you do not have one.
wrap dresses will be in as it is usually the pattern/colour that determines if it is in season iykwim.
look good with either flats or heels.

Ooo I do like the knitted one Traceybath but one of my new year resolutions was to stop buying from Boden - an expensive habit I had to kick. So far have stuck to it despite lush catalogues and bargainous sales.... so stop tempting me!!!

However, if it is Boden via ebay, I can justify it and it doesn't count - hence the eyeing up of this.

Thank you dogsby again how helpful.

MrsMattie · 01/09/2008 12:09

No no no! Wrap dresses can still look good if you accessorize them well.

NomDePlume · 01/09/2008 12:11

noddy, but I AM a suburban mumsy housewife

They're flattering if you have the right shape. The Boden wrap dress I ordered showed every detail (their material is an extremely clingy jersey) so have to wear it with a sort of body stocking. The other problem I've got with it is that the neckline shows more boob than I'd like, especially when bending over.

Tunic only good for those with wide shoulders and narrow hips. Wrap dress better for pears and skittles ie those with big bum like me. Listen to Suzannah and Trinny and dress for your body shape.

The trick with wrap dress is to already be pretty much dressed underneath ie vest top and slip or full length slip and thick tights. If dress flaps open sew a little ribbon on the inside of the seam and inside the flap and tie together loosely.

Wrap dresses look great on me - large norks, proper waist - your classic hour glass tbh.

Flamesparrow · 03/09/2008 17:30

Oh, I tend to wear mine with a thin vest/low t-shirt underneath
