Maternity coats

Do they exist? Nice ones, I mean? Every shop seems to have only one style - usually a horrible belted black 'military style' coat that looks cheap and horrid. Help!

next
blooming marvellous

I wouldn't bother with a maternity coat. just wear your normal one open, and layer up underneath. Most of them will make you look like a barge.

MrsMattie · 23/08/2008 12:47

Thanks scorpio, but have already tried them all.
Next doesn't have asingle maternity coat online or in the big shop near me - went in there this morning Top Shop's ones are really ill fitting with short sleeves. Blooming Marvellous only have one belted trench coat in beige - not practical!

i liked the BM one. ebay??

scorpio1 · 23/08/2008 12:48

isabella oliver?

MrsMattie · 23/08/2008 12:48

But I need something rain proof! i need something that zips up and has a hood. Tried on XXL non-matenrity one in Zara this morning and it was too tight. Nothing under a size 16 will do up in other shops I've tried, but the 18 and above just drown me totally .

Don't want to look like a barge!

this the military style you hate?

is fleece so not waterproof but could be worn with a large cagool

I am too hot in thsi pregnnacy so avoiding buying a coat. I bought a large waterproof sailing jacket and will get one nice maternity sweater to go underneath.

MrsMattie · 23/08/2008 14:47

Hmmm. That first one is actually not too bad@artichokes.

Buy a normal coat in a trapeze style - much more glamorous

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 23/08/2008 14:52

I had this problem, there's very little out there. I bought a size 16 big thing from Principles in the end.

Seems there's not much demand for maternity coats.

malfoy · 23/08/2008 14:57

I bought a US Gap maternity one on Ebay.

Vian · 23/08/2008 17:11

Mothercare have 2 right now. They are both black, don't know who good they would be in the rain. I would look on ebay to be honest. Good luck.

nobodysfool · 23/08/2008 19:23

sorry, meant to show you this one.
