Slippers are all shite, aren't they?

As it is warm at the mo I am generally barefoot but the last 2 winters I have ended up in cheap fake uggs. Anyone do better than this?

So...Style challenge - can you find some slippers that tick the following boxes, yet look ok?

  1. Warm
  2. Cover the whole foot (nothing mule-y cos I will fall down the stairs)
  3. Waterproof bottom so I can hang the washing out in them
  4. Stylish

Ha! i thought not.

My 15 year old dd pinches my sheepskin slippers - so perhaps they are stylish?

They are waterproof (the sheep used to go out in the wet in the same coat0 they are warm, cover my feet and keep them snug, will not fall down in them.

ooh - pic please?

they sound like mini Uggs, that's prob why your dd likes them

ivykaty44 · 04/08/2008 08:25

No my dd can't stand uggs (thinks they are devils spawn)

let me see if I can find a piccy

booge · 04/08/2008 08:36

Why would you want stylish slippers? I hope you don't wear them out and about!!

This is the nearest I can find - mine are 25 years old, so probably not made anymore. Mine are lower at the front. My dd has my mums pair now so that she doesn't pinch mine!! My mums are probably 35 years old - they are worth the money as will last 25- 30 years with indoor and garden use

Slouchy · 04/08/2008 09:07

Thanks for that ivykaty. They do look warm and comfy...

booge - am guessing you might wear giant animal feet slippers cos style isn't important if no one sees them?

Nope, I am just that shallow

ivykaty, I've got a pair very similar to those!

ghosty · 04/08/2008 09:13

I have a pair like those on at the moment. They are my best friends right now as I have broken my foot and are the only shoe I can wear .

ghosty · 04/08/2008 09:15

Unbelievable price though ... I bought mine for NZ$25 which is about 8 pounds!

woodenchair · 04/08/2008 10:04

I have a pair of these beauties they are the most comfortable and warm slippers. A bit like having your own central heating

Proabably not water proof enough for you though.

Mummyfor3 · 04/08/2008 10:10

What about Crocs?? Def waterproof, warm, you can get them with some kind of fleecy liner, lots of colours etc etc. Expensive, though . And for style gurus too last season??? I luurrvve mine though , defo NOT style guru...

Lauriefairycake · 04/08/2008 10:12

agree with mummyfor3 - if ever there was a situation that demanded crocs it's this

get the ones with the fleece liner - super comfy - super practical as can be chucked in the machine

Slouchy · 04/08/2008 10:35

Crocs?

I am looking for stylish, not a cut-off wellie with an old person sock inside.

Crocs, fgs.

Slouchy, you will love this idea then (not): how about Birkenstocks?? Again, I love mine, wear with pretty nail polish in summer, and with socks and jogging bottoms in winter. V cosy.
I know, I know, style... . Promise, much as I am (clearly) not a style guru, they are worn by some v stylish celebs (if that is your thing..).
