*Spotty coat- don't. Too spotty and very thin material- won't keep you warm. Generous sizing- I am between 8-10- got 8- ample.
*Chunky Marl Cardigan- shapeless but warm- returning.
*Cashmere cropped cardi- divine colour ( pale blue) but too short even though I measured- could only be worn over dress. Nice quality though - thickish cash
*Favoutie V neck cardi- fine- keeping one colour, ordered 2 to choose.
*Trousers- weekend trousers- es- nice fit.
*Trousers- studio trousers- yes. however, these are much tighter round waist (need to lose muffin top) than weekend trouser- and also slightly lower rise- despite both being called "Below waist".

Sushi, agree crap photo, bad styling.Look much better in RL I promise!

ahundredtimes · 02/08/2008 19:41

I LIKE the spotty coat.

I do.

I really like it. Also flattering cut with a sort of 40s nipped in waist.

Not bothered about warmth. Am not going to wear it to walk the dog.

But I am going to wear the rain hat I bought to do so. V. pleasing. Haven't tried anything else on.

The coat gets the thumbs up, promise.

Can any of you Boden experts tell me about their "100% extra fine merino wool"? I usually find anything with wool in very itchy, will this be different? Also when it says handwash/dry clean, does it mean it?

girlnextdoor · 02/08/2008 20:18

merino wool is usually very fine- I did have a merino cardi ages ago and it was not itchy and I have v sensitive skin.

Yes, you should hand wash though if you can machine wash as wool ( most machines can these days) it it wll be fine.

AHT- have you GOT the spotty coat- or are you just yearning for it?

Sorry- but it felt not much thicker than a thick jumper- I need a v warm coat as I feel the cold- even just shopping in London lol!!!

CJ I totally agree with you about the model, nothing looked right on her, I wouldn't be surprised if they had to refit lot of the clothes on her just to make them look like that. She is skeletal

whatdayisit · 02/08/2008 20:20

Thanks GND. I am hankering after the chic knitted dress in magenta.

girlnextdoor · 02/08/2008 20:21

ST- how would you wear your mooching trews? Like jeans? out for a drink etc? Walking the dog? shopping?

OP posts:
girlnextdoor · 02/08/2008 20:37

AHT- £19 for a cotton rain hat- he must be joking!

OP posts:
SilentTerror · 02/08/2008 22:58

GND,any way really.I usually wear my velvet ones as jeans in winter, ifyswim.
Usually with vest and cardigan and boots.
Sometimes do wear them in the evening, have a dark damson colour that I wear alot around christmas for drinks, informal supper etc.
Could easily wear these dressed down for shopping with knitwear or at night with sparkly top etc.

ahundredtimes · 02/08/2008 23:01

No , I got it. I wasn't sure I was really a spotty coat kind of person, but have now decided that I am. It's nice, and a good shape.

i have a warm coat for dog walking.

This is for um, something else. I have a lot of coats . . .

ahundredtimes · 02/08/2008 23:02

I bought it [proud] The rain hat I mean. I don't care.

And if you go looking for a waterproof hat I think you'll find they aint that easy to come by. [defiant]

girlnextdoor · 03/08/2008 08:00

AHT- "I have lots of coats"...and a lot of dosh too....[sad}!

Hope you enjoy it!

lolol I have a waterproof rain hat. V handy and practical I'll have you know. Definitely looks better than having to wear a hooded thing and you can turn your head and still see rather than being stuck in the hood. I keep a look out for them for dd (who has followed the family tradition and has a giant heed and no coat hood seems to cover it properly!).

Ok so my order arrived - well most of it. The rainy day cloud thingy mac is on a back order.

The green chunky boots are actually incredibly like wellies

They are a nice olive green and very nicely put together, no zip (I thought they had a zip?) but they pull on fine because they are, as I said, like wellies.

My calves are about 34 max so they are much too liberal in the girth.

Also they come right up to the back of my knees, which is very high seeing as I am 5ft 7. A real knee boot as it were.

They're going back but I might get the brown ones in the sale if they are massively reduced...

Henley top thing. (Merino, pale pinky) this was in the sale at £29. I thought it would be useful top as it's long, but even folded in half it is as thin as paper and I am not even bothering to unwrap it. There is an added warning about not wearing jewellery with it as it'll snag - enough said. I have children fgs! Going back...

Finally, the double layer t shirt.

HAHAHA

You get instructions.

Get this:

'How to wear your new Double Layer Tee.

. Admire the lovely soft fabric

.Put on the inner layer (refer to your Boden catalogue to ensure you have the right colour)

. Put on the top layer - if your garment has sleeves hold onto the cuffs

. Adjust to fit and admire yourself in the mirror

Pmsl really.

The under layer is a nice fit but is cream, I will dye it and use it alone thanks very much. Top layer is the nice minky grey colour but is not a good fit as it has to fit over the cream one. Crap really. But will keep as a gesture as it was in the sale and I feel bad sending everything back...

Will review cloudspotter mac as soon as it comes.

girlnextdoor · 08/08/2008 08:33

Flight- have you heard of DUO BOOTS.com?
My calves are 33-ish and I get my boots from DUO.

AGree with the double layer T shirts- I kept mine as for £12.50 i thoughtit was reasonable for 2 T shirts - but they don't really fit together as in Boden mummy shots- unless you spend ages re-arranging them! There is no way I would have paid £25 for them as cotton is very thin.

when my order arrived i had completely forgotton all baout ordering when there was 20% off. anyway i am keeping stripey everday shirt - nice fit, colours a bit nothingy but ok for work ( also very pleased as fitted into a 16 - had to have a 20 last year) , also keeping tanktop blue colour lovely and also a good fit , alos got front pocket bootlegs for dd1 they are ok, and soem velvet trim baggies in brown with a pink flower pattern for dd2 they are ghastly, flowers really garish and large print so goign back, the 2 pairs of trousers for dh also goign back because he doesn't really need them and they are just boring really, so a mixed bag .

Flightputsonahat · 08/08/2008 11:35

Thanks GND, yes someone linked me the other day - I liked a couple of pairs but they didn't have them in my size

Will keep bookmarked though...!

littlerach · 08/08/2008 11:41

I have just got the green rain coat here

It is lovely, nice lining, and removable hood.

And it arrived very quickly.

girlnextdoor · 08/08/2008 15:48

flight - if you can ever get to a DUO shop it is well worth it- it saved me £££s in buying and posting back- they have a few shops dotted around.

The boots are all a very different fit- if you see anything you fancy I can fill you in if they are ones I have tried/bought.

I have got Kirov and love them!

OP posts:
Flightputsonahat · 08/08/2008 17:21

Thanks GND, that's really kind! I quite liked some low heeled/flat ones which I can't recall the name of - they were £59 in the sale - brown with a red panel at the top.
They had a 33 but I didn't want to risk it, I'm kind of 33 or 34 I think.

girlnextdoor · 08/08/2008 18:06

flight- I have seen and tried those in the shop- they have quite a wide foot and quite deep too- top of foot to sole if you see what I mean. depends on what your feet are like!

I have got Ravenna and they are comfy (although a bit boring) and I did have Jerez but sold them- the heel was a bit high- even though it is chunky it is still high.

I am hoping they will do a smartish boot this year with a low-medium heel!

( maybe we should start a DUo thread[smile)

OP posts:
Flightputsonahat · 08/08/2008 18:32

maybe we ought!

Thanks for your knowledge! Yes well my feet are high and wide so that is good - only thing is I don't like clacky heels so would need to try them really I think.

If they had rubber soles that would be perfect.

Simply · 08/08/2008 18:40

Thanks Whizzz for saying you liked the tie back tops you bought. I placed my first Boden order for ages and got three tie back tops. I'm keeping the dark blue and coral and I think I'll wear them a lot but am returning the lime green as the colour looks a bit odd on me. I'm finally twigging what looks right and what doesn't!

I also ordered two lace trim camis which I'm keeping. The ruffle trim cami didn't look right on me. The belted linen shorts were okay but too big though I ordered my normal size 14. The washed cotton jacket looked like it needed to be open and have something nice underneath it to look nice but it covered over the top underneath too much to look right and it was too drab (but I had ordered the light brown one it has to be said) with the buttons closed. The scallop applique top and the pretty petal tops are going back as they do nothing for me. As I've a free returns label I'm happy with the items I've got in the sale.
