Feeling a bit huffy today. I have recently lost alot of weight and have decided to splash out on some new clothes. Went shopping today but same awau with nowt. Just felt too old for topshop and alike but too young for principles etc. I like relaxed clothes (white stuff, etc. Not so keen on boden. Any one got any ideas? Online or mail order is better as I don't normally have a chance to go without DCs in tow. Thanks.

Kaliko
Hobbs

I could go on..............

Basically antwhere - and I am older than you

You have to dig and delve more and look at what other people are wearing - this made a world of difference to me

Good luck

Booboobedoo · 31/07/2008 21:25

Where do you live, micegg?

The Oxford Street Topshop has a brilliant designer section that's a bit less Teeny.

I still love Warehouse, although they're a little drab this year.

I've just discovered Joules too, and I love it.

georgimama · 31/07/2008 21:25

Great Plains
Linea
M&S (of course)
Joules
Mistral
Hobbs (outlet only)
L K Bennett (sale at outlet only )

Dorothy Perkins do quite good jeans
tesco do fab vest tops
New Look

llareggub · 31/07/2008 21:26

I'm 32 and buy stuff from Principles occasionally. I also buy from:

Kew
Joules
Monsoon
Laura Ashley
M & S (Ltd Collection and Autograph, deffo not Per Una!)
Betty Barclay Black (from Debenhams)
Kaliko (rarely these days)
White Stuff

I have bought a couple of things from Boden but was very unimpressed by the quality to price ratio.

Notyummy · 31/07/2008 21:31

Karen millen in the sale for going out gear
Jigsaw for work stuff (occasionally)
New Look/George/Dotty Ps for cheap and cheerful 'new seasonal pieces'
Oh, and I am 36 and still love Top Shop. There is plenty of stuff that doesn't suit me, but still loads that is wearable (I'm not a size 6 btw, 10 on top and 12 on bottom. 5 ft 10)
Lastly, love Zara and Mango, although their sizing is randoom, and some of the stuff REALLY long (and I am tall; god help the smaller amongst you)

ilovemydog · 31/07/2008 21:31

Zara
Gap
H & M
brora (sale only)

micegg · 31/07/2008 21:35

Thanks everyone how i love the power of mumsnet. I am off to check out some of your suggestions. Will also start looking at what others wear.

I am 36 and had a bit of a shopping orgy in H&M today. LOADS of stuff there if you weed out the teen silliness. The buyers all seem to have a great eye for colour.

I love Monsoon too.

Tortington · 01/08/2008 10:54

TinySocks · 01/08/2008 16:39

I LOVE fat face
Zara
Gap

I guarantee you will find something nice in one of those three!

elkiedee · 01/08/2008 16:43

I'm 39 and used to buy from Principles but haven't recently. I buy from Next quite a lot and like Monsoon, have recently discovered Fat Face, though the 2nd and 3rd of those seem quite pricy to me. I also wear some tops I got from Dorothy Perkins a lot at the moment. I hate clothes shopping though.

Pineneedles · 01/08/2008 16:51

I bought 2 fab (and ultra cheap in the sales) dresses this week and you would never imagine they came from Bay Trading!
