Tips on what to wear at a wedding while breastfeeding

I've gone down the conventional route and bought a brown/cream Monsoon skirt, brown shrug and shoes but am bored with it already-it's not very glam and I don't get many opportunities to dress up! It's a pretty posh do...
I was thinking of a strapless/ spaghetti strap dress that I could hoick down. Is this doable with a shawl etc or would I just embarrass myself?
Please tell me what you wore in these circumstances or just give suggestions! Having already bought shoes and a shrug any replacement should really match these and will probably have to come from Ebay if I am to avoid upsetting dh!

I think you'd get fed up with hoiking down a strapless/spaghetti dress.
What about a wrap dress? There was one that someone linked to not that long ago, I'll see if I can find it.......

Ooh, thank you. Ds will be 6 months so not feeding constantly but will still have a few feeds...
Ds wasn't actually invited but the B and G said it was Ok to bring him because he was still bfing so I don't want to draw too much attention to him!

IMO strapless dresses are usually a bit fussy at best, let alone when you are trying to pop it up and down. totally understand wanting to dress up a little but also remember that you will probably be a bit nervous if your little one fusses during the ceremony and may pop him/her on the boob at unplanned times just to keep them calm...so point is make sure it's really easy to do!

maybe just try some different colours? i'd still stick with skirt and top... good luck.

Was going to suggest again the mummylooksfab site, but its in the thread linked to by Flier.
Could you stick with the skirt and shrug combo and add some really glam accessories - shoes, clutch, necklace?
Or how about a more dressy skirt/shrug?
I wore a similar combo to a wedding when DS2 was 4 months so feeding lots.
I found a creamy silk skirt from Monsoon like this one

I had some really nice compliments that day.

Think this will be much easier and more comfy for you to feed in than a strappy dress/shawl outfit.

I have no sense of style at all and accessorizing is impossible for me! I hate feeling weighed down and normally just wear sliver watch, bracelet and necklace - dh calls it being boring!

oh god i had complete nightmare with bfing ds at a weddig 2 months ago. I dressed in denial and paid the price.... actually quite funny with hindsight, the shame!!!!

ok, i wore this dress which zips up the side. Didn't wear a bra because I haven't had the spurty probs that I had with 1st child, so figured I'd be okay.

Nightmare to get dress zipped and unzipped, up and down every time I wanted to feed, esp while juggling a wriggling dc (and, like a pp has mentioned, I had to feed more often than usual bc of keeping him quiet at various moments) Also, he dribbles his milk when feeding a lot, which meant that I had lovely stains on both sides of the dress. This not only caused much embarassment on the day, but also when i took the damn thing to be dry-cleaned - which took THREE GOES before all the stains came out- the smirky bloke knew exactly what these rings of white were and delighted in pointing them out to me.

Like you, I was feeling "ooh, I haven't been dressed up for ages, who cares about practicality - HA!! wish I'd worn my 'jammies.

Also, I wore 5-inch Louboutins which sank into the grass with every step I took. I forgot that it was going to be an outdoor reception .....

I would go for what you feel comfortable in and what's practical rather than trying to look too glam. Good luck!

oh - and it didn't occur to me until the night before the do that I would need a wrap of some description for sake of decency - realised that I had loaned my black wrap to a friend who was now on hols, rang another friend to sk her to bring something for me to the wedding ... met her there and she had brought me a black sarong. Looked hideous so used for sake of not exposing while feeding but not sure which most embarrassing - flashing boobs or totally mismatched 'outfit' uuuuuggggggh

HAve you looked at the Monsoon sale Haystones? They have lots of glam skirts for good prices.
Could you find one to match the shrug you already have? Think its easier to find skirts than tops, esp when feeding.
Personally wd avoid a dress unless its designed for feeding, but will dig out my b-feeding clothes links for you.
