Talk to me about shorts

Most of the year (when not at work) I live in jeans. I have lots of nice (I think) tops that all go with jeans so I don't have to think too hard in the mornings . What I need is a pair or two of shorts that I can do the same with during the summer. I currently have a couple of ancient pairs of navy M&S shorts that frankly should not be let out the house.

Where can I buy some nice, neutral coloured shorts that are low maintenance? (I don't do ironing.) I'm a size 12 a the bottom and 14/16 at the top.

topshop have a great selection, something in white and something in black for evening and day would be great. also, go for knee length shorts, its not too revealing and its perfect for all occasions.

Try Zara for beautifully tailored shorts of different lenghts, agree with Lola black and white good for basics.

I have 2 pairs from there but bizarrely, the white pair is (a lot) smaller than the black one, although they´re the same size..

Thanks for this.
So what should I be looking for when I go shopping? Links and pictures please...

I really don't know what I'm looking for

Just bought a fab pair from H&M for £14.99. Just above knee-length, nice cotton fabric, come in black, stone and brown.

Love 'em!

these could be ok, or could be vile, but they are so cheap, it would be rude not to buy them i feel....

the ones i bought aren't online either. i think they may have been labelled as capri pants (bleauh) but they were city shorts, I'm certain of it....

Slouchy · 23/07/2008 19:08

Oooh, look at my profile

Mine were Next (crap shop I know but these are nice)

love2sleep · 23/07/2008 20:28

Thank you ladies

will try and sneak out on my lunch hour tomorrow and find a pair that avoid the billy bunter look.

Btw does "linen rich" not mean "looks like you slept in them after 10 minutes"?
