Dp HATES my flip flops.......What could I buy instead that are comfortable but attractive?

Ideally I need a cheap pair of shoes that I can wear with jeans or skirts run round after the kids with etc

Btw I usually tell dp to sod off and i'll wear what I want etc but he's seriously going off me apparently and as we have only just got engaged I think it might be nice to give him a treat

Thanks to anyone who can help me with this.

Oh no don't give up your flip flops, I discovered flip flops last summer and there is nothing as comfy as them. I've never found a comfy ballerina style shoe either.

Sparkletastic · 18/07/2008 20:01

Some gladiator sandals would do nicely.

like these?

snooks · 18/07/2008 20:01

personally i would be a bit wary of satin shoes (in summer, also because they won't last v. long...)

new look have lots of leather ballerinas...(i have a nightmare finding comfy ballerina styles too - must be my hobbit feet again)

Pannacotta · 18/07/2008 20:02

Accessorize sells pretty flip flops, there will be some in the sale, worth a try?

snooks · 18/07/2008 20:03

sparkle i love gladiator sandles! haven't got any tho

LoveMyGirls · 18/07/2008 20:06

Sparkle thanks for your help but sorry don't think they will be any good, can't imagine me getting those on and off in a hurry, can't afford the £35 either.

Snooks will leather make my feet sweat? I've got a nice pair of hush puppies but they make my feet really sweaty, I do need to start wearing those though actually because they were £50 and I promised I'd wear them and they would last forever.....

Pannacotta its not the look of the flip flops he hates it's the sound, so all flip flops are out

snooks · 18/07/2008 20:16

Well i would have thought leather would be the best bet for sweaty feet, but i'm no expert cos i live in my birkenstocks as soon as the weather's warm enough

is there anything in the clark's sale? sorry to be a fogey

teafortwo · 18/07/2008 20:22

what no flip flops - denied!!!!!

My dp said he didn't like my summer bandanas because they make me look a bit American!!??!! Now dd is 2 and because she is a ginge and I am a blonde we both wear them and he says when we walk in the street together we look very sweet!!!

My advice - if you love your flip flops wear them this summer and next summer he will tell you how lovely he finds that little flip followed be the little flop!

LoveMyGirls · 18/07/2008 20:24

Lol no he won't! We've got 2 dd's and dd1 wears flip flops, he doesn't mind hers only mine for some bizzare reason!

Clarks have a sale? I'll have to have a look!

I must admit my sister had a really annoying loud pair last year. Try a few for volume of flip or flop! Mine aren't that loud.

maidamess · 18/07/2008 20:31

Can't you secure your flip flops to your feet with a pair of stout elastic bands?

snooks · 18/07/2008 20:34

or better still, just wear some elastic bands (i do find wearing flip flops feels just like that)

citylover · 18/07/2008 20:34

Birkenstocks can be bought from QVC

Sorry to offend anyone but don't like ballet pumps except on small girls and not so keen on crocs either.

Flip flops OK

Jewelsandgems · 18/07/2008 22:22

LoveMyGirls · 19/07/2008 09:21

Blondilocks · 19/07/2008 20:55

How about Skechers sandals? They are sooo comfy & I don't think they make a flip flop noise.

My ex used to hate flip flops - now he wears some ugly man sandal flip flop things himself!
