You know all these shops today have size 4 clothes?

Well I ahve figured that size 4 and 6 is purely for pre pubescant girls who nowadays shop in grown up shops when they shouldn't.

When I was a teen, there was no way I could go into a high street womans shop and buy clothes that would fit me. I had to shop at Tammy Girl (remember them?!)

Now we are made to feel bad, caue there are lods of smaller size in OUR shops.

Ban these pesky teens I say.

P.S, am a 10 on top so no need to be jealous. I also have saggy boobs!

until quite recently i worked for a jeans retailer that sells size 4 and we frequently had customers that were TOO SMALL for the size 4 clothes, amazingly not teenagers. we used to sell loads of them because they were so difficult to get in other shpos. usually the customer was just very petite, around 5foot tall but we did have one girl that used to buy a size 4 with a 36 leg.

the size 4's and 6's are what used to be 8's and 10's about 10/20 years ago, everything has just been relabelled

In the 80's, my best friend was 4'10 and weighed under 6 stone, she was a size 8, today she weighs a bit more and is wearing a '4'

And all this depresses me as that means I shoul be in size 24 in old sizing

isaidno · 13/07/2008 20:51

I remember the excitement of being big enough to wear a size 8 in grown up clothes. I don't think I was ever small enough to be a 4 - except perhaps when I was 4...

brimfull · 13/07/2008 20:52

"we are made to feel bad, caue there are lods of smaller size in OUR shops."

why do you feel bad because you are not a size 4?

brimfull · 13/07/2008 20:53

don't know why i made that a link ffs

DrNortherner · 13/07/2008 20:53

Well, I might us in general, women. Not me personally.

i think its a fantastic thing and that more shops should stock smaller sizes,it means i dont have to shop in teen shops where i get choice of skulls with diamontes,mr men or cute little kittens.

fishie · 13/07/2008 20:55

in the olden times it was 8-16. now there are just a whole lot of randomly labelled clothes and i can be anything from a 10 to a 20.

harpsichordcarrier · 13/07/2008 20:55

I agree everything has been resized.
size 4 is probably an old eight

DrNortherner · 13/07/2008 20:56

Lol at in teh olden times.

'I remember the excitement of being big enough to wear a size 8 in grown up clothes'

i remember getting to age where i wanted to shop in grown up shops because (apparently)was grown up but all too big.i made it fit but looked ridiculous, like i was playing dressing up.
that is why our shops stock sizes 4 and 6.

BettySpaghetti · 13/07/2008 20:57

I've got some Pineapple yoga pants that are "size" age 15 and I'm a 10/12.

Wouldn't that make a womans size 4 about a girls age 12 though??

DrNortherner · 13/07/2008 20:57

Oh it's all gone a bit pete tong haSN'T it?

OP posts:
Amphibimum · 13/07/2008 20:58

is that true minority?
so if im a 12 now, that means im a 16 in old sizes?? [faints][and goes on diet][not][i dont do diets][lol]

halogen · 13/07/2008 21:09

Size 4 is pretty much exactly an old size 8 from about 20 years ago, judging by my old clothes. The sizes have kept pace nicely with my expanding girth so even though I am much fatter than 20 years ago, I still take the same size and always have done. It's madness. Do they think we can't handle the truth or something?

Amphibimum · 13/07/2008 21:19

well I cant handle the truth, if thats it.

man, i am taking up.... yoga. or something.
