Gap, cottton, purple mottly type print, halter neck, just above knee - makes my waist look mini but I wear it over a T shirt for modesty's sake.

Also 4 years old.

"My favourite dress" (great song by The Wedding Present) non-Summer is a black 1950s style, scoop necked, full skirted one - also Gap.

have several at mo:

rockabilly full skirt, nip waist, strappy, teeny off-white on blue heart shaped polka dots, tattoo embroidery (topshop).

brown with bold white dandelion print, shirt style buttons all down, ruched cap sleeves, fine floaty cheeseclothish cotton, lined (ebay).

medieval style heraldic bird print in brick red on beige, brown/beige trim, puffed cap sleeves, one of those jersey ones that fits under boobs. this one over leggings or trousers (topshop knockoff).

all knee length. i luuurve frocks

I saw someone in a lovely dress today: see if anyone recognises it? (Was too shy to ask her.)

  • blue-on-pale-blue cotton print, the sort of Indiany block print East do, but an elegant one
  • knee length, can't remember about sleeves - might have been cap or elbow length
  • flattering-for-small-bust wrap bodice, with a ribbon underneath as high waistline
  • crucial thing: the ribbon waist wasn't horizontal - it was highest in the middle & curved down to sides (& presumably round to tie at back): so it didn't define waist & would be nice even if you don't have a weeny waist (or one at all).

Green spotty knot-front dress from Boden - v flattering and lovely.

Or one I got in Wallis sale - it's a sleeveless black linen shirt dress, the skirt is a-line with a hint of swishiness and the big belt on it makes my waist look teeny. But my norks are too big for it so I wear it unbuttoned to the waist with a cami underneath.

I got one from Monsoon recently, teal colour, fake wrap top bit then fitted and slightly a line. I think anyway, it's still in my wardrobe haven't worn it yet despite lovely weather, it feels too smart for running around after dd somehow even though it isn't a smart dress particularly. Used to jeans I think. It is lovely though. And the best bit is that I got a size ten even though I am usually a 12-14. Monsoon are very good for pear shapes imo.

Love dresses, but my absolute favourite at the moment is a cotton wrap dress from Boden, sooo flattering, I bought a second one, might even buy a third as it's in the sale www.boden.co.uk/col.asp?segname=%57%6F%6D%65%6E&styid=WH094&segid=6&gpname=%44%72%65%73%73%65%73&des name=%52%75%66%66%6C%65%20%43%6F%74%74%6F%6E%20%44%72%65%73%73&gpid=6&gen=

Full Circle - Sleeveless - V at front and back - nipped in little waist. Flares out slightly. White background with Brown/pale green and a little dark pink detail. Label still on it. I'm saving it. (for what I don't know)

StellaDallas · 04/07/2008 13:04

I have got some lovely dresses - my fave is the green one from Boden last year that is similar to this year's knot front.
But when can I wear them, when?
It is freezing here today in the sunny south-west and the temp is dropping like a stone - forecast to be 15 degrees on Sunday

Tutter · 04/07/2008 13:05

i don't have one
