Day time hen outfit for 40 year old, size 14

Please help decide what I should wear to a daytime lunch/comedy club show, I am not very stylish and pretty much live in jeans and top or gym clothes.

I'd wear my best pair of jeans with either a fancy top and plain jacket or plain top and fancy jacket - with boots. I live in jeans but instantly feel elevated with a decent jacket and boots.

I second the advice. Go glam with the top. Make sure the boots are comfy. Wear jewelry with it if you think others will dress up - you can always remove some jewelry and pop it in your bag if you think you are over dressed.
