Tags on clothes from online

Have other people found these on their clothes?

I bought a dress from online recently and it came with this big loopy tag going through the sleeve and around the front of the dress. I think it's to stop me wearing it and then returning it.

Has anyone else experienced this? I don't really know what to think. Does it make it harder for you to work out if you like the clothes? Or does it not bother you?

Online retailers need to do something to stop the "wear once and return" phenomenon.

I haven’t received any clothes with this particular tag - but I’m not surprised.

The number of people who seem to think they are the exception to the generally accepted rule of not wearing clothes before returning them is astonishing.

Maybe an electric shock delivered if you keep an item on for more than ten minutes without irreversibly removing all tags would work …

That’s a great idea. I ordered a dress from Next and it was obvious that it had been worn and had disgusting stains on the inside of the lining.

🤣 love it

I've not come across it but I've not ordered anything new online for a while. Does it interfere with trying on and make it harder to see it properly and move with it on?

I'm aware that returning worn clothes is creating a huge problem. But where possible, I'd prefer it retailers tackled the actual offenders rather than thinking up a 'solution' that inconveniences us all. But of course that would mean checking all returned garments before issuing a refund and I guess they don't want to do that. So I have some sympathies with them but with limits.

Absolutely. Blame the scumbags who do this, not the retailers.

Do you think it would be better to have a big obvious tag, or a small discrete one that can still verify if the item has been worn?
I'm curious at to people's opinions on how that big tag might affect your feelings when trying on an item

I've had a number of dresses with the huge loops through them when I've ordered online. They can be a nuisance when trying things on because they do get in the way and it usually takes a few attempts to be able a good look at the dress but I totally understand why they are used. However, I agree with a PP that ideally companies should inspect returns more carefully and deal with individuals but realistically the costs involved mean that the majority will ''suffer" because of the ignorant minority!

I’ve had this lots of times. It didn’t affect the way the dress looked. But it would absolutely stop you from wearing the dress and then returning it. I’m pretty sure they have the shops name printed on it.

In fairness I’ve only ever had it with dresses that are £150 plus.
