Vinted riddled with (upper) high street fake knitwear

Has anyone else got a home feed riddled with fake knitwear at the moment? My home feed is teeming with fake Sezane, Cos, Me + Em, Reformation, Soeur and Brora cardigans and jumpers. I’ve noticed they all share the following:

  1. photos taken on a fabric / sheet backdrop. I think this helps avoids bots scanning.
  2. newish accounts with up to ten or so items, often a few baby clothes or Zara listings to add “authenticity”.
  3. Copy n paste descriptions.
  4. Items tend to be in lurid colours (lots of bright green), cables, and tacky details that the above brands would never have.
  5. Priced between £37-£40.
It drives me bonkers how many of these ugly fakes there are on Vinted right now. And worse, every time I try to report them as fakes their silly algorithm takes my Interaction as interest and starts pumping more and more into my feed. Infuriating. But I guess people are buying them!

They were doing the same thing with fake Adidas trainers, I kept reporting them, Vinted take them down, then a new one pops up, all new or only worn once but with no signs of wear

It’s so annoying! First with Sezane “Gaspard” knock offs and now when I’m looking at Cos and Brora cardigans

why are they always £36-40? Does mean I set a search parameter above and then below those amounts but it’s frustrating

but not as annoying as not being able to filter by country!

Lench · 28/10/2026 22:40

I think the same is happening with Birkenstock clogs. Photos and descriptions are identical.

Totally agree on that one. Why oh why do they not let us filter by country?

Before I realised the fake Brora scamming, I bought one of these cardigans. The seller’s profile seemed so legit as she (he?) had just two upscale cardigans alongside a few little baby toys. It all felt small scale and like they were a real person who “just didn’t reach for it”. The cardigan when it arrived was so weird - really thick, slippery almost wet fibres. It was short in the body and bagged in the wrong places. So hideous and fake. By the time I realised, they had a few negative reviews for fakery and scamming so I guess they just closed that profile down and set up another. Weird how ineffective Vinted’s systems are for taking down these guys.

I bought a fake cos jumper. Gutted. I'd already accepted it. Very wary now. And yes it was £40!

fieldofdoom · 29/10/2026 06:42

This is turning me off Vinted, so many fakes

Cranx · 29/10/2026 06:45

I reported a seller as they were selling exactly the same jumper, but one had a Cos label and one had a Sezane label - they didn’t do anything about it!

The fake sellers never show the inside label.

Artfuldreamer1 · 29/10/2026 06:49

I always ask for a pic of the inside labels to check, so many fakes on vinted these days

fieldofdoom · 29/10/2026 06:50

Vinted don’t care which is the problem.

Artfuldreamer1 · 29/10/2026 06:55

That’s true - they take their fee and move on!

Vinted is getting worse. The Guardian have written about it, mentioning the website Sad Vinted Faces, (https://sadvintedfaces.com)
which has been put together to raise the profile of the poor customer service. Sadly, it feels like, even when contacted, Vinted have just shrugged their shoulders.

The Guardian also have Consumer Champions. I did wonder if enough people send their individual complaints to them, whether The Guardian will continue to investigate.

I also wonder what the major brands are doing? Can’t imagine Brora or Sezane being satisfied that poor quality knitwear is being sold in their name.

Cucurella · 29/10/2026 07:26

Yes, i see these fake Me & Em cardigans all the time. They're hideous, and so many of them.

SwimminginGin · 29/10/2026 23:26

Over the past few days seen some Toast knitwear which is similar - sellers with no reviews; no inside labels; priced at £70.

Chocolateteabag · 30/10/2026 03:27

I wonder what wording might actually trigger their AI bots to realise they are fakes - tried reporting a couple and the reply “ they are doing nothing wrong” pops back far too quick to be a real person

I need a “no fakes” filter as well now!

DirectMove · 30/10/2026 08:50

I contacted five of these sellers yesterday, asking for a photo of fabric labels 😂 - to no response. Easy cut and paste, seller to seller. All messages ‘seen’ I just wanted to annoy!

I reported all to Vinted for selling fakes as each seller had between 5 and 12 of the same cardigan. Again, Vinted have let them stand.

i reported the Sezane ones, to Sezane, with all screen shots…if they respond I will send on the message from Vinted saying there is not enough evidence of fakes.

Too much time on my hands, obviously…but I felt better for a bit of ‘telling’. 😂

I don’t understand why people use Vinted at all. EBay’s loads better IMO.
