UGG vs Birks

Torn between UGG mini boots or Birkenstock Bostons. I'm swaying towards Birks as they have a better grippy sole for winter weather and they're leather so hard-wearing. But I really like both. If you have both, which do you prefer? Or if you could only pick one, which one would you choose?

Also looking for some knee length leather boots that are either flat or slightly heeled but that might be a topic for another thread..

Birkenstock Boston’s surely aren’t winter shoes? They don’t even cover the heel!!! Madness when it’s wet or cold

Love my Bostons - so much I have several pairs - but I don’t see them as an “outside shoe” past about September. I definitely wouldn’t say they have a grippy sole. I’m still wearing mine to go to reformer because they’re easy on and off but they’re out of my regular wearing rotation now until about Easter. I have leather and suede pairs and find the suede stretches out a bit, but both are very comfy.

Weirdly I recently bought Uggs for at home/walking to reformer. I think mine might be ultra mini. I wish I had returned them because I feel like the heel/anke part is too short and my feet slop out a bit.

Yes good point although I've seen people wear them with socks. The fur lined ones I'm thinking.

I’m a die hard Boston fan. They’re just so comfortable!

The fur lined ones are slippers! (I also have those, 10/10 recommend, although you do need to wear socks with them or they get smelly.)

Ahh okay, its the ultra mini boots I'm looking at too. I did try them on today and didn't notice my foot slipping out. I tried on my usual size 4. Not sure if people normally size up or down with these!

I have both. As the pp said, they're very different shoes. Bostons with socks on cold dry days is heaven, they also perfect to keep by the door for nipping out front. They're also the shoes I prefer to fly/travel in. The mini boots are lined, so only for the coldest weather, but better in the wet than Bostons. They have their place, but aren't as flexible as the Bostons. That said, you can't choose between them, they do different things.

I see people wearing them out all the time, someone at work even wears them. Didn't realise they were slippers!

This is why I end up with 100s of shoes as they all have different functions and are for different seasons! I'm also looking for some waterproof trainers..

I’m also a 4 and got that in the Uggs - I think they fit fine, but the reviews (which I didn’t read until after I’d worn them because I am stupid) consistently mention the foot slip thing and that the back part is cut too low.

The fur lined Bostons are fab for at home, and per pp great for nipping out to shepherd in a rogue cat or take the bins out. I’m on my second pair of those. I’ve never seen anyone wear them properly out in public but I guess you could (they are really warm though).

I just googled ugg mini boots, mine are def an outdoor version but no longer available. They are smooth leather with a side zip.

Pic of what I have, but these aren't mine.
