Chemical breakage - any tips?

Hi all. I’ve had some chemical breakage on the very top layer of my hair from colouring. It’s really getting me down as it looks so crap! The rest of my hair is just below shoulder length and the breakage is at the bottom of my ears. The regrowth of the broken hair is so slow. I am wearing my hair up every day (I put it up gently in a clip) and it’s been like this for months now without much progress. I have thin and crap hair anyway so this breakage is very obvious.

my hair is very sensitive and fragile so I feel quite well versed in the land of hair products and treatments but I’m hoping someone might have something to suggest!

I am using a silk pillowcase, champo hydrate shampoo and conditioner (which is very moisturising) and the growth serum. For treatments I use coconut oil or rosemary oil or the Fino premium touch hair mask. I either dry my hair on a cool setting (I never blow dry or use straighteners / tongs) or leave it to dry naturally.

my hair cannot handle a lot of protein. I think using K18 has contributed to the breakage! It really needs a lot of moisture otherwise it gets brittle.

thank you for your help

Can you get away with washing your hair less often? That will help. The natural oils condition it.

When my hair was dry and breaking from bleach, I used Coco and Eve pro bond repair. It’s expensive but worked. I also used leave in oils prior to washing (hair syrup). Dry on a low heat (leaving hair wet can actually cause more damage) and a heat protector spray prior to styling (the VO5 dry spray is really good). It took months but it did work. No more bleach!

Thank you @IwanttoWFH i have just looked at the Coco and Eve product. I’m never sure how much protein my hair can take! That looks like it might be good for me as it looks to be both protein and moisture…

its good to know you fixed yours. My breakage seems to be moving up and up the strands 😥

I didn’t realise it had protein in it 😂 I stopped using the Redken protein shampoo due to a worry about overloading, but the Coco and Eve really helped my hair.
My hair was so dry and was breaking at the ends. The top wasn’t too bad. My hair is now lovely and shiny and soft. It did take about six months until I noticed a difference, so stick with it. I also stopped using bleach and had toners, instead. I haven’t used bleach for a year now.
