Smarter sweatshirts

I can't get on with jumpers but love sweatshirts. Any ideas for where I can buy slightly smarter looking sweatshirts (not hoodies)? I don't mean very smart, obviously, but I am going out for an informal dinner tonight with a few girlfriends and am stuck with either short sleeve tops or sweatshirts with athletic slogans all over them! Just a few that i can wear with jeans would be great. I am tall so nothing boxy and size 18 so nothing too slim fitting!

I’ve got some gorgeous ones from Tallulah and Hope that fits the brief. They have closed down now but you can definitely get them on Vinted etc.

Budget?

Varley or Reiss do them, and the White Company.

Not sure why you don’t get on with jumpers, so this might be totally off the mark - these Uniqlo cotton jumpers have a sweatshirt vibe and are pure cotton. Worth a look?

They're unisex though so the fit will be weird. Unisex for me always means too narrow in the hip and too long in the sleeves.

Definitely not narrow in the hips. I need a long sleeve, so you might be right there if you don’t.

Unisex is code for "men's cut, but available in smaller (a.k.a. teen boy) sizes". That's why the hips and sleeves are wrong for most women.

Thanks. I do know what unisex means.

I came to recommend these also.

Thanks all. I don't get on with jumpers mainly because they never seem to wash well for me. Can't be bothered with hand washing and machine washing inevitably leads to shrinkage or the item seeming misshapen. I just prefer sweatshirt material for these reasons.

Love the colour of the Sweaty Betty one. The Uniqlo look like they might be too short in the body for me, i'm in-between the female and male model heights used on their website. The jumper looks good on the female, too short on the male. I'll take a look at the others.

Oh, and budget would be up to £50ish per sweatshirt.

Most of the sweaty Betty ones come up large. I always buy a size smaller.the reviews tell you which ones and the sleeves are long. They have thumbholes in so they cover half my nands. Im 5 foot 5. A lot of them are on sale right now.
I know what you mean about washing jumpers. They are a pain to wash.

No issues with chucking the Uniqlo in the washing machine, and I’m long in the body and they’re fine on me, but I’ll stop hawking them now.🤣 (They are great though!)

I have a few of those Uniqlo sweatshirts - they are warm and comfortable. I do tend to wear them for more casual stuff though (WFH, lazy weekend days etc).

I am a size 14 and the medium is great - not too long in the arm and the hem sits just below the waistband on me.

I like Cos for quality and fit, but they might be slightly over your budget... Might be worth taking a look on Vinted. ROUNDED COTTON CREW-NECK SWEATSHIRT - RED | COS GB
