Footwear on winter nights out when you don't wear heels

If I'm going out somewhere dressy - a nice bar for example - in summer I tend to wear flatform sandals. In winter I wear big chunky ankle boots. Sometimes trainers but they never feel dressy enough when my friends are all in heels. But sometimes the big ankle boots don't feel right either and I want something else. I just don't know what.

I'm short and so I feel better in something with a bit of height, which is why I tend to go for flatform sandals or trainers, or the chunky boots. I really don't like ballet flats on me - they don't suit me at all.

I think I'm looking for the equivalent of my much-loved flatform sandals but in some kind of winter form. Which don't exist.

Help!

Are these to clompey for you? I love them and they’re very comfortable but I know Docs are a look and they’re not for everyone.

if you are after heels equivalent but flat, perhaps not a chunky boot or shoe, but a more delicate flat would feel similar to heeled shoes? Chunky flats, boots or shoes tend to look a bit more casual and it’s more dressy you are after, then look at flat but more delicate boots, something like this https://www.marksandspencer.com/leather-knee-high-boots/p/clp23091027?color=BROWN#intid=pid_pg1pip48g2r7c1%7Cprodflag_Just%20Arrived

That said, if your personal style is more casual than your friends, that’s fine and don’t feel you have to match their glamour levels.

I didn't think of knee-high boots. This is a really good idea, and yes in line with the more dressy feeling I was looking for.

I know you're right. I wish I could feel more confidant in my own style. I usually just end up feeling self conscious though.

I love platform shoes. I have some that make me 5 foot 9. Im 5 foot 5. Im about to buy a pair of Lucimora boots. When worn with long trousers kick flair or boot cut they make my legs look like they go on forever.

I have a couple of pairs of Meher Kakalia embroidered ankle boots (bought on vinted as they are too spenny for me otherwise).
