Is there such a thing as comfy heels?

And yes, I know I don’t HAVE to wear heels but I’ve got a family wedding and the outfit I’ve bought just wouldn’t look right with flats.

Trouble is, I just really struggle finding any heels that are even semi comfortable. I wore some next “forever comfort” the other week to a party and they were only two inch heels but they crippled me 🤦‍♀️ In fairness I’ve got wide feet so maybe the fit wasn’t great but they felt fine in the shop.

Any other suggestions?

Esska shoes. They are very comfortable and I can wear them for hours when I normally live in trainers.

Another vote for Esska - I have two pairs of their Charlie style. So comfortable, I would wear them if I ever get married!

I find a block heel or a wedge the most comfortable, I wore these to a party on Sat and didn’t even notice I had heels on

I'm thinking of buying this from Next - Green Forever Comfort® Velvet Slingback Block Heels

What type of heel were the ones that you found uncomfortable?

Would the outfit work with a wedge heel?

No, they're not but they're cheap compared to most of the stuff I normally see recommended on Mumsnet! I sold a ton of stuff on E-Bay to buy mine. They're a classic style and I have worn both pairs (black and tan) a lot.

She's already said some shoes from that very range were no good.

Go for brands that do a wide fit, Clarks, hush puppies, think John Lewis own brand used to do a wide, not sure if they still do.

Make sure your centre of gravity goes down through the centre of you and through the heel. If the heel is too far back or forward (and a lot this season are towards the back!) it’ll push your weight onto the balls of your feet not the heel. (Also if you’re not used to walking in heels think about it a bit, it’s heel toe not tiptoeing all night.)

think about how the shoe stays on your foot, a strap across the front or an ankle strap will anchor your heel in place better than just a slip on shoe that might need to be a bit tighter in order to stop it slipping off.

Finally you can get little pads in boots to put in your shoes to cushion your feet a bit.

Re the Next “forever comfort” - they have a wide variety of styles, some will be more comfortable than others, but if you need wide fitting shoes, nothing that’s too tight will be comfortable.

Another thought - if the wedding is soon-ish, could you look at heeled boots not shoes? It would be ok for a winter wedding and would mean you can go up half a size to get the width you need, then add socks for additional padding/comfort.

Kitten heels ? I have bought really nice ones from next that are comfy .
They don’t go with long dresses though .
Pencil skirts & midi skirts/ dresses , Over the knee dresses .
What are you wearing ?

I haven’t tried them myself but people swear Jessica Simpson heals are comfy. I have heard this so many times. Loads for sale on vinted, cheap enough to try without committing to something expensive

Hm, this is an interesting point! The wedding is a winter one and I’m wearing a jumpsuit, so the right boots could work but I was going to go for gold shoes (not seen any gold boots around!)

I’ve found a couple of pairs of Linzi heels from NEXT super comfortable this year.

That’s interesting as I’ve seen some of those that I like style wise. I’ll try them on. I think I’ll have to buy some shoes and actually try wearing them around the house for a few hours rather than just try on for a minute and walk up and down once 🤦‍♀️
