Lightweight, lace up, wide fit boots!

Recommendations wanted!
Looking for boots that fit this criteria:

  • Ankle boots
  • Wide fit
  • Lace up
  • Light-ish weight
  • Black

The lightweight bit is key, as all heavy boots seem to rip my feet (back of heel) apart, plus unpleasant to wear generally.

The Hotter Surrey ones are currently the closest i've been able to get but I would prefer a tiny bit of a chunkier sole (hard to get this without the weight of course so willing to sacrifice!)

Anyone bought any gems lately?

Are your feet wide everywhere? Hotter are very light, so it might be a struggle to match them.

StylishAndBeautiful · 21/10/2026 12:14

Try Pavers and brands like Fly London, Josef Seibel, Rieker, Gabor, Ecco, Clark's. M&S and Next do wide fit.

How wide are your feet? Are they extra wide.

You could try TK Maxx and proper shoe shops

StylishAndBeautiful · 21/10/2026 14:21

M&S only had a Jones pair and Next Buy Black Forever Comfort® Standard/Wide Fit Cleat Casual Lace-Up Boots from the Next UK online shop
(not leather)
If you have smallish feet, try children shoes. They tend to be wider.

Just near the toes, heel is normal! (Ankles possibly a bit strangely shaped) thanks!

Will try these, i have looked at Fly before but they dont seem to do wide fit, would you say they run wide? Im a fairly standard wide fit, to the point where I take a 5 wide, but can get away with a standard size 6 depending on the brand in boots/trainers.

I had looked at those but saw a review saying they were quite hard. Might still be worth trying, thanks!

Sorry, I'm not really much help but at least I'm bumping the thread. Lace-ups aren't really trendy at the moment.

Maybe brands like Lanx or Grenson might have something.

I saw some lovely brown Timberland lace-up ankle boots in TK Maxx a few weeks ago, and they often have Clark's ankle boots, but stock is hit and miss.

Maybe shops like Schuh and Office have something.

I wear Solovairs. The Monkey Boots are great and might fit the brief apart from they're not light. My feet are wide but not extra wide and the heels quite narrow.

StylishAndBeautiful · 21/10/2026 19:05

Went to TK Maxx and found lace-up boots by Timberland, Dr Martens, Gabor and Lotus.
The Timberlands were heavy, the DMs not as heavy as they looked.
The Lotus weren't black but they and the Gabor were as light as feathers, so to speak. They didn't look narrow.

I think they were the Perth ones
Gabor Leo Ladies Ankle Boots | Gabor Shoes

Thank you so much, this is so helpful! The style on the lotus isnt quite what I had in mind, but am going to see if I can find a Gabor stockist!

Vivobarefoot

second this

I have a pair of vivo walking boots and they’re the most comfortable things I’ve ever worn! They do fancy black boots too.

look up other barefoot boots (try Anya’s Reviews for recommendations)

Fly London do come up quite wide.

I also have a pair of Solovairs. They are not light, but have never rubbed.

Ny favourite boots are Blundstone Chelsea boots.

Yes, agree that fly London come up wider than others - especially if you’re looking at some with a more naturally wide shape (ie squarer / rounded toe). I’ve got very wide feet and have successfully had fly London boots in the past.

I do tend to find that boots are more forgiving of width than shoes, though I always have to be careful. Also Clarks, Ecco, camper, pikolinos, Gabor, and weirdly I’ve had luck in the past with Dune boots.
