Fine hair / help!

I have always had very fine hair, and as I’ve aged it has got worse. I have a short slightly graduated bob which I’ve found is the best shape for it, but really need some kind of product to give a bit of body (and ideally heat-protection) that isn’t sticky or heavy. Any recommendations from people with genuinely fine hair?

Have you tried hair mousse? I have started using it again on the fringe area/top of head to give some extra height and body. No stickiness at all.

The branded Superdrug one was the one I have bought which does the trick. No heat protection though so would be interested in other recommendations.

Fine hair is tough because people like different things - I find the powders for roots give thickness but I hate the way they feel, sets my teeth on edge when I touch it with my fingers. Most things will mask the issue and/or wear off over a day (e.g the mousses become weighty so after a couple of hours in the morning they can add to the issue by dragging the hair down). For me with short hair choppy layers are the best; not having a line to look along with a blunt bob for example, draws the eye over a bigger surface area so makes it visually more stimulating. If that makes sense!

I also caveat that with my thin hair which has become a lot thicker after checking various nutritional deficiencies and making sure I was cleaning my scalp properly to take off any excess skin build up clogging the hair follicles (boar hair hairbrush does this well). I now find it looks better long and wavy. Hope at least one of those ideas helps!

Dry it with your head upside down with a mouse worked in lightly at the roots.

And then once it's styled and set in a carefree effortless looking style dont touch it much or brush it at all!

I’ve had a small amount of hair extensions put in to give my hair some volume and it’s made a huge difference.
