Wide leg trousers HELP

So I have, until recently, been wedded to my skinny jeans. I know. I am not fashionable but I would like to be, and I gather that everyone now wears wide leg trousers.
Please help me find some gateway wide leg trousers?! Presumably black would go with everything?
If relevant, I’m early 30s, size 10, average shape, WFH

I love these Uniqlo C volume trousers. The waist is very fitted and the pleats hang really well. But I'm not sure whether they're entry level from skinny jeans.

it doesn’t have to be all or nothing, why not try some straight legs first? I’d go to marks and pick one of all their styles and then see which I liked best? I did this last year and it was handily as they had all the denim variations and large changing rooms.

M&S have the best range of jeans at food prices. I have both their wide leg and barrel jeans and love them equally.

OP - if no luck in M&S, have a go with Levi's 501s. Go up a size or two if you want the baggy look. They're not full on wide legs but I'd argue they're more than a gateway, they're a stone cold classic and work no matter what is in fashion.

What sort of tops do people wear with wide trousers?

I'm 5ft 3 so it's lovely to be able to buy the shorter length. Levi 501's are a good shout. I have the traditional & the 90's styles. The traditional is straight & the 90's is wider.
@ItalianChineseIndianMexican i'm wearing Cashmere jumpers tucked in slightly at the front. The waistband needs to show some shape to look right.

I finally embraced wide leg jeans and trousers and am now wedded to M&S carrot jeans and the carrot trousers they seemed to sell briefly (you can get them on Vinted).

I'm 5'5 and buy the short leg. I feel the ankle grazing look sits better with the style. Paired with slightly cropped or boxy t shirts and tops, they look great.
