Ipl hair removal recommendations

I have a budget of £200 for an intense light pulse hair follicle destroyer . Are there any that the great hive mind of Mumsnet recommends? It’s for a gift ( it’s been requested I’m not an animal ;-) ) mainly for facial hair.

we love the look of and have previously used the Phillips lumea but it’s out of the price range sadly.

Tbh if its for facial hair id spend it on proper clinical hair removal instead. You can get quite a few sessions for that. Its the only thing thats worked for me, have tried the lumea, brain, and several cheaper versions inbetween and despite on paper being the target audience (pale with dark hair) none of them have ever touched my facial hair, although worked well for legs, armpits etc.

Thank you - that’s where we are both coming to I think

just realised brain was supposed to be braun!

If it helps, I used therapie because it was the cheapest I found. They do a refer a friend scheme but tbh I can't see many people actually get much use out of it as you have to book about £500 of sessions up front to earn the referral fee, whereas I wanted to try one or two first to see if it worked (which to be fair it did). Don't get sucked into buying more than you want because there's a sale on either because they have them on ALL the time. Same with the facial care/soothing gel etc packages they try to sell when you go for your appointments - they are hugely overpriced and completely not necessary.

I would recommend them as the actual removal worked well, they had lots of slots, etc but learn from my weak willed mistake and go in prepared to say a firm no to any upselling!

Lumea is definitely the best and I know works but I can’t see it being discounted to £200 :-(

It was a few years ago, end of line discount etc.
