FitFlop sizing - help!

I’m thinking of buying some FF trainers but am bewildered by the width sizing? My length puts me at 5.5 but the width… What am I missing?! Does anyone have feet that wide 🤣

Sometimes width is measured by looping a measuring tape around the ball of your foot. Could it be that? For what it's worth, I got their wellies and found them too narrow, though I do usually prefer a wide fit as the ball of my feet is slightly wider than average.

I bought some Fitflop trainers last week. There was no foot width option. If it helps, they come up wide enough for my wide feet.

Thanks both. I tried some on yesterday and, although I’ve got FF sandals in 5.5 that fit perfectly, the size 5 trainers were a better fit for me.
