Taking engagement ring to jeweller for cleaning

Hello- my engagement ring was bought years ago from blue Nile and I’ve never had it cleaned or inspected. Don’t want to risk sending it back to blue Nile but DH is saying that if I take it to another local jewellers then they could switch the stone! Does anyone else take their rings to a different jeweller than the one the ring was bought from?

All reputable jewellers will clean your ring and value it for insurance if you need that.

Buy an ultrasonic cleaner.

I can't imagine any jeweller removing the stone from your ring. If it's of any quality it will have a GIA certificate and the corresponding number etched on the girdle of the diamond itself.

Ok thanks. I’ll just take it to local jeweller and ask them to value it before cleaning it.
