What would you wear to a 50th party at someone’s house

50+ people, cocktails, music etc anything goes. Don’t know what to wear…what would you all wear to give me ideas of what I could put together.

You’re giving us nothing to go on OP! What’s your shape? Size? Normal style? Are you looking to buy something new?

If it was me I would be in a fitted animal print dress and slouchy boots

Is it a shoes on or off house/party? That would probably affect what I wore. I think if there was a chance I’d have to remove shoes I’d be most likely to wear trousers, from my own wardrobe maybe some wide leg trousers and a nice shirt.

I’d make an effort.. definitely not jeans, I’d wear nice trousers with a blouse or a dress I’d wear to a smart restaurant.

I’d wear a dress , you’re going to a party , irrelevant where it’s been held .

I would wear a mini fit and flare dress and black tights, with heeled ankle boots

Sorry! More info. I’m tall 5’9, size 10, my best feature is my arms and shoulders. I suit burgundy, navy, grey, khaki. I live in gym kit or jeans normally. I’m 51. No boobs. Just want something a bit edgey. It’s shoes on party.

I am a similar shape and age to you, and I wore a satin skirt and an asymmetrical top (baring one shoulder) to last 50th party I went and got loads of positive comments. Both in black, with somewhat bonkers turquoise kitten heels

Personally I favour smart-casual for house parties, unless it’s a fancy house or the invite otherwise suggests something posh. Nice jeans with a blouse/top and maybe a small heel or cool flat, bit of statement jewellery maybe if that’s your thing.

Yes, shoes on or off? I can't imagine inviting 50 people to a party and wanting shoes off, but on MN that seems to happen.

I have a black kind of silky jersey cotton Atom Label jumpsuit that I have worn to every 50th birthday party I’ve been to! It’s fantastic.

Wow you’ve got a great physique for pulling off any look. I’m not sure what you mean by edgy exactly. To me it means an element of looseness… a little bit louche. Maybe a mannish pair of black evening trousers and a silk shirt with the buttons undone, cuffs undone… some thin gold chains. Hair not too … fixed. ( think the Olsen twins).

Massimo Dutti have an interesting Limited collection of separates. I liked a semi sheer skirt with a low backed skinny top. I also thought this skirt and top were striking ( although possibly too hot )

I like the combination of this sheer top with these looser trousers. If you don’t have much in the way of boobs it would look editorial with a triangle bra or a high apex bralet ( rather than sexy sexy ). I think it would look good with the right jeans too.
