Like the title says. Near identical black leather Chelsea boots. New ish account so I don’t think I can post pics?

  • Camper: have tried on so know they fit, but haven’t bought camper for yeeeears so no idea of quality
  • Birkenstock: have had a few pairs but they run big and don’t have half sizes so can’t go down, but can wear big socks.
  • Blundstone: never worn so can’t speak to size or customer service (can I send back if they don’t fit) but like the ruggedness.

help me!

@DigitalBeauvoir , check the Sale and Outlet menus. The imperfect ones are usually very good. Also check what size you need - the unisex styles are generous. I go down a size or half-size. The high-shine are less durable than the others and the hi-shine vegan leather isn't nice.

I have these Burgundy Rub-Off Monkey Boot – NPS Solovair Outlet and they are far nicer in RL.

From your choices, I'd go for the Blundstones but I don't have a need for them - they're not quite smart enough for skirts and I have boots for jeans already. Campers are too narrow for me.

The pp Gabor ones look good but I'm not keen on zips. Might mean less wear on the elastic.

Blundstone are my best boots ever. I have had a pair on the go since about 1995. A pair lasts about 5 years. They go with everything! My current ones are black with blue elastic.

Sizing - they are generous. The half size just means “wide”. So I am normally a wide 8/8.5, but I wear 7.5 in Blundstones.

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads ,I wear chelsea boots with above the knee skirts and dresses to the office. Blundstones might be too rugged for that.

Try Lanx, British made. I love mine

BeaTwix · 13/10/2026 15:21

I’ve got Blundstones. The chisel toe fit quite differently to the round toe ones.

In former I wear my usual size. In latter I size something crazy like 3 sizes.

There is a breaking in curve and my most recent ones aren’t through it yet mostly because I keep putting the old battered ones back on!!!

lanx is a good shout though. Patrick Grant is persuasive in his book Less about the benefits of channeling spending into the UK economy where possible. If you buy something made & sold in UK a significant proportion stays in UK economy and pays for the labour involved sone of which also ends up back in the pot via tax etc. I’m trying to be more considered in my purchases.

Blundstone boots are heaven. I put mine on in October and don't wear any other shoes at all until I put my sandals on. Robust, last for ever, comfortable and get better with age.

When I bought them I though 'these are the best, when they get tatty in a year's time I'll buy another pair and keep these for muddy walks'. Three years in and I am still wearing the original ones to everything.
