Satin skirts - a fashion fail

Bought a lovely satin skirt a couple of weeks ago. Looks great if I'm standing up or walking around. Horrible to sit down in because it's so SLIPPERY. I can feel myself sliding down and forward in the chair. Verging on dangerous for driving due to sliding forward in the seat. I suppose an upside is that I'm strengthening my core because I have to keep it engaged constantly to maintain a safe driving position. 😆

Anyway, that's the last satin item I'll ever buy!

Just moving this over to style and beauty for you, OP.
Sorry about the satin skirt flop 😥

I have a cream one. I'm thin but it shows up every lump and bump. I hate it. It can only be worn with a top that covers my bottom.

What angle is your car seat at?! I don’t think this is the skirts problem. Are you slouching? I just don’t understand.

I wore a satin dress last night and didn't notice this at all. I stayed firmly on my seat all evening! I didn't drive in it, admittedly, but I don't fancy putting it back on now to experiment 😆

All the lace trimmed ones and the matching cami tops just look like underwear to me.

Love the idea of a satin skirt… But with my bum it would be a straight case of Kim K deleting the whole Internet so nobody can see it!

I found this with the car and also my office chair. An uncomfortable sensation that I'm having to keep everything tense to avoid sliding out of position. Maybe I do just have really poor posture - it's not a problem if I'm sitting on the sofa!

I don’t even think they look good on thin people!

I always think that they are probably cheap to produce, are very unforgiving and resemble nightwear. Never thought about them being slippy!!!!

BCBird · 10/10/2026 17:34

We should boycott them!!

I have to say mine looks nice - midi length, patterned, and quite a thick fabric so it doesn't really resemble nightwear. The slipperiness is something else though!
